LG Innotek Partners with Applied Intuition to Accelerate Autonomous Driving and Physical AI Strategy
LG Innotek has entered into a strategic partnership with Applied Intuition to strengthen its position in the autonomous driving and physical AI markets, signaling a shift toward integrated hardware-software solutions.
Under the partnership, the two companies will combine LG Innotek’s autonomous sensing modules with Applied Intuition’s software and testing infrastructure to enhance overall technology performance. LG Innotek will advance its sensing capabilities using test vehicles and simulation environments, while Applied Intuition will integrate LG Innotek’s modules to improve software performance, establishing a mutually reinforcing collaboration structure.
Applied Intuition, headquartered in the United States, is a global leader in autonomous driving software and simulation, with most major automakers among its clients. The company continues to expand its influence in the physical AI sector by developing technologies based on real-world driving data.
Through this collaboration, LG Innotek aims to strengthen its sensing technology competitiveness by leveraging diverse datasets collected from various driving environments. Test vehicles operating in regions such as the United States, Europe, and Japan will gather data on road conditions, traffic patterns, and climate variables, which will be used to refine product performance.
The partnership will also extend to autonomous driving validation in Korea, utilizing Applied Intuition’s testing capabilities. LG Innotek expects that real-world verification of advanced sensing solutions—such as multi-modal systems combining cameras, LiDAR, and radar—will shorten development cycles while improving system reliability.
In addition, the two companies plan to expand cooperation in the “virtual sensor” domain. LG Innotek will apply digital twin-based virtual sensors to Applied Intuition’s simulation platform, enabling automakers to test autonomous driving technologies in environments that closely replicate real-world conditions. This approach is expected to enhance both development efficiency and accuracy.
LG Innotek believes that the adoption of virtual sensors could accelerate the transition to mass production, potentially leading to increased orders from global automakers. By offering integrated solutions that combine sensors and software, the company also aims to streamline customers’ development processes.
Looking ahead, the partnership will expand beyond autonomous driving into areas such as drones and robotics, alongside joint marketing initiatives.
This collaboration is part of LG Innotek’s broader strategy to transform into a “solution provider,” moving beyond component supply to deliver integrated hardware-software solutions.
Applied Intuition CEO Qasar Younis emphasized that the co-evolution of hardware and software is essential for the widespread adoption of autonomous driving, adding that the partnership will support automakers from development through mass production.
LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo stated that the company will deliver differentiated solutions through collaboration with a world-class autonomous driving software partner, with the goal of becoming a global leader in mobility and robotic sensing.
