LG CNS has made a strategic investment in U.S.-based robotics company Dexmate as part of its efforts to expand humanoid robot solutions for industrial environments. The investment marks the first time a Korean company has invested in Dexmate.

The investment was carried out through LG Technology Ventures, LG Group’s corporate venture capital arm. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, Dexmate is recognized for its advanced humanoid robot technologies and is known for producing hardware platforms widely adopted as standard research systems by global developers working on robotic “brain” technologies.

Dexmate’s humanoid robots are designed to maintain human-like manipulation capabilities while using a wheel-based lower body instead of legs, allowing stable and continuous operation over extended periods. The robots feature dual arms and a vision-sensor-based head structure, enabling precise bimanual operations with more than 36 degrees of freedom.

Each robot can handle payloads of approximately 15 kilograms using its dual arms and can operate for more than 20 hours on a single charge, making the platform suitable for industrial applications such as logistics centers and manufacturing facilities.

Through the investment, LG CNS is expanding its robotics hardware portfolio to include wheel-based humanoid robots alongside existing bipedal humanoids and quadruped robots. The company plans to leverage this portfolio to provide what it calls a “full-stack RX service,” combining hardware, robot foundation models (RFM), and operational and learning platforms.

LG CNS is developing its own platform for robot operation and training while also expanding partnerships with global robotics companies. Last year, the company invested in Skild AI, a U.S. developer of robotic brain technologies, to accelerate the development of industry-specific RFMs. It is also conducting projects to verify the practical use of robots in logistics, distribution, and manufacturing environments.

Lee Joon-ho, executive vice president at LG CNS, said the company’s goal is to enable large-scale robot deployment by integrating robotics hardware, RFM technology, and operational platforms.

He added that LG CNS plans to validate humanoid robot business models that can be immediately applied in real industrial environments and position itself as a leader in the emerging era of physical AI.
