Genesis BBQ Group is accelerating its expansion in Central and South America, opening its fourth store in Honduras just six weeks after entering the market.

The global chicken franchise announced on April 15 that it has opened its fourth location, “BBQ Town Center,” in a commercial complex in southeastern San Pedro Sula, the country’s second-largest city.

Since launching its first store in February at Masdeval Plaza in San Pedro Sula, BBQ has quickly expanded with additional outlets in La Ceiba, a major northern port city, and Choluteca, a key inland hub in the south. With the latest opening, the company is rapidly building a network across strategic cities.

San Pedro Sula, home to approximately 900,000 residents, is a major economic and logistics hub in Honduras, with strong manufacturing, distribution, and trade sectors. The city is also a key dining market, hosting global brands such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Applebee’s, and Subway.

The new BBQ Town Center store spans approximately 168.6 square meters with 24 seats and operates in a quick service restaurant (QSR) format. The menu features signature Korean fried chicken options such as Golden Fried, Yangnyeom, and Soy Garlic, alongside K-food items including tteokbokki, rice bowls, and chicken fried rice.

Local interest in Korean-style chicken has been strong, with steady customer traffic since opening. Group dining demand is particularly high, with set menus such as “Couple Pack” and “Family Pack” accounting for a significant portion of sales. Among individual items, Golden Fried, Honey Garlic, and Secret Sauce chicken are top sellers, while demand for side dishes such as tteokbokki and rosé tteokbokki is growing rapidly.

BBQ currently operates 24 stores across Central America and the Caribbean, including Panama, Costa Rica, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Honduras. The company plans to expand further into major South American markets such as Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia.

A company official said BBQ has signed master franchise agreements covering Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and El Salvador, and expects rapid regional expansion. “We plan to open our fifth and sixth stores in Honduras in July, and are preparing flagship locations in Guatemala City and San Salvador in the third quarter,” the official said.
