Kia’s EV6 GT, built on Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated EV platform E-GMP, has demonstrated its product competitiveness by achieving top scores in a recent comparison test conducted by the German automotive magazine Auto Motor und Sport.
In a three-way comparison of electric vehicles, the EV6 GT ranked first ahead of the Tesla Model Y and the Polestar 4. Auto Motor und Sport is one of Germany’s three most influential automotive magazines, alongside Auto Bild and Auto Zeitung, and holds significant impact among European consumers.
The evaluation was conducted across seven categories: body, safety, comfort, powertrain, driving performance, eco-friendliness, and cost. The EV6 GT earned the highest scores in the powertrain, driving performance, safety, and body categories, achieving a total score of 597 points and outperforming the Model Y (574 points) and the Polestar 4 (550 points).
The EV6 GT delivers a maximum output of 448 kW (478 kW with launch control), achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and accelerating from 60 to 100 km/h in 1.5 seconds, outpacing both competitors. Reviewers also praised its drift mode and agile handling for enhancing driving excitement.
In safety tests, the EV6 GT demonstrated superior braking performance with a stopping distance of 33.6 meters from 100 km/h, the shortest among the three vehicles. In the body category, it received high marks for advanced driving and safety features, interior ergonomics, and user experience.
The EV6 GT supports high-performance driving with electronically controlled suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, and GT and drift driving modes. Equipped with an 84 kWh battery and 350 kW ultra-fast charging capability, it can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. The model was previously named the World Performance Car of the Year in 2023, earning global recognition for its performance and efficiency.
