SK Group’s flagship event, the SK AI Summit 2025, wrapped up successfully on November 4th, marking Korea’s biggest domestic AI conference. Building on its reputation as Korea’s leading AI event last year, this year's summit saw an influx of global companies and industry experts, establishing it as a “world-class AI collaboration platform.”
Under the theme ‘AI Now & Next,’ the summit aimed to reflect on the current state of AI technology and explore future developments. The event commenced with a keynote speech by SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, followed by influential speakers including Ben Mann, Co-founder of Anthropic; Team Costa, NVIDIA’s Semiconductor Engineering Executive; and Shin Jeong-a of Kakao. They shared insights on AI technological advancements and industry transformation.
During his keynote, Chairman Chey emphasized “efficiency competition” as a core strategy to meet the surging demand for AI. He highlighted the importance of expanding AI infrastructure, semiconductor manufacturing, and proactive AI adoption across SK Group. “Sustainable competitiveness in the AI era depends on efficiency,” he stated.
Since 2016, SK Group has hosted the ‘SK Tech Summit,’ which expanded into ‘SK AI Summit’ last year, opening up for global participation. This year’s summit featured 78 companies and academic institutions from eight countries—up 44% from the previous year’s 54 participants—reflecting the growing industry interest. Approximately 35,000 offline and online attendees attended, an increase of 5,000 from last year, solidifying its position as Korea’s largest AI event.
The event was highly anticipated, with all tickets sold out even before the conference began at the COEX convention center in Seoul’s Gangnam district. The keynote by Chairman Chey, which drew an audience of 1,000, sold out early, prompting many to watch via live stream. Notably, global AI leaders Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon, and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, delivered video messages praising Korea’s AI capabilities and SK’s emerging role.
The summit featured breakout sessions on topics including ‘Sovereign AI,’ ‘Agentic AI,’ and ‘Manufacturing AI’, covering a broad range of industrial applications. Leading companies such as LG AI Research Institute, NVIDIA, Krafton, Shinsegae I&C, and Schneider Electric share their AI case studies across sectors including computing, semiconductors, healthcare, retail, and energy. Discussions centered on technological insights, AI adoption roadmaps, and global partnership opportunities.
SK Telecom’s AI data center technologies, SK Hynix’s high-performance memory semiconductors, and collaborative projects like the AI-RAN 6G mobile communication technology with NVIDIA garnered particular attention. Business meetings in dedicated zones fostered discussions on innovative AI cooperation models and new business opportunities.
Looking ahead, SK Group plans to strengthen its collaborations with international AI corporations and research institutions, boosting value chains across industries. “The SK AI Summit has evolved into a global hub for AI exchange,” a group representative said. “We aim to expand Korea’s AI potential worldwide through strategic partnerships and collaborative growth.”
