Dong-A ST has expanded its global corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts by providing medicines and digital healthcare solutions to medical institutions in Ethiopia.
The company announced on April 24 that it conducted medical support activities from April 22 to 23 in Addis Ababa, visiting MCM Hospital and Eunpa Primary Clinic, while also operating a remote monitoring system demonstration program at Black Lion Hospital.
The initiative was led by Jaehoon Jeong, alongside representatives from medical development organizations and partner institutions, who assessed local healthcare conditions and discussed ways to expand support.
At MCM Hospital, Dong-A ST donated approximately KRW 100 million worth of its AI-based diagnostic support software “DoctorNUN.” The solution is designed to assist in predicting cardiovascular disease risks and diagnosing eye conditions. Beyond supplying the technology, the company plans to provide training for local medical staff to enhance digital diagnostic capabilities.
In addition, around KRW 50 million worth of prescription medicines will be delivered to Eunpa Primary Clinic. The medicines were selected based on local demand, aiming to improve access to essential treatments for underserved populations with limited healthcare availability.
At Black Lion Hospital, the company introduced a sampling program for its remote patient monitoring system “HiCardi.” The system enables real-time tracking of cardiac conditions following surgery and is expected to improve post-operative care, particularly for heart patients. The program was carried out in collaboration with the Global Medicine Center under Seoul National University College of Medicine.
MCM Hospital is known for providing free medical services and training healthcare professionals in areas with limited medical infrastructure, while Black Lion Hospital serves as Ethiopia’s largest national hospital, handling advanced and complex treatments.
Dong-A ST said the initiative is meaningful in that it goes beyond conventional pharmaceutical donations by integrating digital healthcare technologies into its support model. The company plans to continue building a sustainable healthcare assistance system by combining infrastructure support with ongoing training for local medical personnel.
The company has been actively engaged in social contribution activities both in Korea and abroad. Domestically, it continues to support vulnerable patients and donate medicines, while internationally it is expanding medical aid programs in collaboration with local healthcare institutions.
