Samyang Foods is expanding its globally popular “Buldak” brand into the entertainment space with the launch of a new reality program aimed at engaging Gen Z audiences worldwide.
The company announced that it has released “Heat Match,” a reality dating show produced in collaboration with U.S.-based media platform Nectar. The first episode premiered on April 11 (local time).
The show is built around the concept of “the hottest date in the desert” and was timed to coincide with a major music festival held in Indio, California. The program features 10 single participants, including well-known reality TV personalities and influencers such as Imani Wheeler from “Love Island” and Kayla Richart from “Too Hot to Handle.” Contestants travel together on a “Buldak Bus” to a desert party venue, where they begin forming connections.
A key element of the show is the use of Buldak’s signature spicy flavor as a catalyst for relationship building. Participants share spicy food experiences, revealing natural reactions that help them understand each other’s personalities and emotional compatibility. The format reflects modern dating trends that value authenticity, introducing the idea of “withstanding the heat together” as a new compatibility metric.
The first episode of “Heat Match” has been released globally through Nectar’s official YouTube channel, while the final episode featuring the winning couple is scheduled to air on April 18. In addition, Buldak’s official social media channels are sharing behind-the-scenes footage and short-form content related to the show.
Through this project, Samyang Foods aims to evolve Buldak from a food brand into a cultural icon that resonates with younger global audiences. A company official said the initiative is designed to deliver a unique and entertaining experience by translating Buldak’s brand identity into the language of entertainment.
