Hana Bank has exceeded 20,000 cumulative issuances of International Student Identity Cards (ISIC) during the first seven months of 2026, reflecting rising demand for financial products tailored to students pursuing international travel and academic opportunities abroad.
The milestone underscores the bank's efforts to strengthen its presence in the student banking market by combining financial services with globally recognized student identification benefits.
The ISIC card is an internationally accepted student identification credential, recognized in more than 150 countries and offering discounts and benefits at approximately 150,000 affiliated organizations worldwide. Students can access savings on transportation, accommodation, cultural attractions, travel services, and educational programs.
A key contributor to the growing issuance has been Hana Bank's Travelog ISIC Debit Card, which integrates the bank's overseas payment platform with ISIC membership. The card is designed for students participating in study abroad programs, exchange semesters, language training, and international travel.
Cardholders benefit from fee-free currency exchange across 58 currencies with a 100% exchange-rate spread waiver, as well as exemptions from overseas payment fees and international ATM withdrawal charges. By combining travel-oriented banking services with student identification, the product has gained popularity among young customers preparing for overseas experiences.
Hana Bank has also broadened access to financial services for international students studying in South Korea through its Young Hana ISIC Debit Card. Unlike most domestic banks, Hana Bank issues ISIC-enabled debit cards to both Korean students and foreign students enrolled at Korean universities, helping improve financial accessibility for the country's growing international student population.
Industry observers note that demand for globally connected student banking services has been increasing alongside the recovery of international travel and the continued growth in overseas education. Financial institutions are increasingly seeking to differentiate themselves by offering integrated products that combine payment services, travel benefits, and student verification in a single platform.
To encourage broader participation, Hana Bank plans to launch a promotional campaign beginning September 1 that will subsidize the ISIC certification fee, allowing more students to obtain the internationally recognized student identification card at a lower cost.
A Hana Bank official said the achievement reflects the bank's continued commitment to improving financial convenience for both domestic students and international students living in Korea.
"We will continue expanding differentiated financial services tailored to students' lifestyles so they can conveniently enjoy Hana Bank's banking benefits both in Korea and overseas," the official said.
