The global esports season for Summoners War is set to begin, reigniting the passion of summoners around the world in 2026.
Com2uS announced on January 12 that it has successfully concluded participant registration for the “Summoners War Korea–Japan Super Match 2026,” the first official tournament of the 2026 esports season for its globally popular title Summoners War: Sky Arena, and has now entered full-scale preparation for the competition.
This year carries added significance as Com2uS’ flagship global esports tournament, the Summoners War World Arena Championship (SWC), marks its 10th anniversary, raising expectations for an especially intense and memorable season.
The Korea–Japan Super Match, which opens the 2026 Summoners War esports calendar, has established itself as an official rivalry event since its inaugural edition in 2023, earning strong support from fans in both countries each year. The 2026 tournament will feature online qualifiers in February, followed by an offline main event scheduled to take place in Japan in March.
Participant registration, held from December 16 to January 5, drew enthusiastic interest from summoners in both countries, underscoring the event’s growing popularity. With Korea having claimed championship titles for two consecutive years, the possibility of a third straight victory has emerged as one of the key storylines of this year’s competition.
Several proven elite players have already secured direct entry into the main event, further heightening anticipation. Representing Korea, SCHOLES, a participant in the SWC 2025 Asia-Pacific Cup, has confirmed his place in the finals, while Japan’s TAKUZO10, a finalist at the SWC 2025 World Final, has also earned a direct qualification advantage.
Following the excitement of the Korea–Japan Super Match in the first half of the year, Summoners War esports will continue on an even larger scale in the second half with SWC 2026. Celebrating its 10th edition, SWC has consistently expanded in size and impact, capturing the attention of esports fans worldwide.
A broadcast of the 2019 World Final approached 2 million views within a single day, while in 2023, the tournament recorded a historic high with approximately 58,000 applicants from around the world. The SWC 2025 World Final, held in Paris, France, last November, also drew large crowds from multiple countries, further demonstrating the global appeal of the franchise.
Building on years of accumulated experience and operational know-how, SWC 2026 is being prepared as the largest esports festival in the history of Summoners War, designed for summoners across the globe to enjoy.
Over the past decade, Summoners War has grown beyond a simple competition for victory, evolving into a global esports platform where players worldwide connect and communicate. Diverse monster strategies and the thrill of high-level gameplay have fostered a fandom that transcends national boundaries, while both online and offline events have helped build a strong sense of community through interaction between players and spectators.
Com2uS said it plans to continue delivering engaging online and offline esports experiences in 2026, strengthening connections with its global user base and further enhancing the global standing of K-games through competitive gaming.
