JW Bioscience announced on November 11th that it participated in the Korea Society of Pathologists (KSP 2025) International Conference held at Lotte Hotel Seoul from October 30th to 31st, showcasing the latest automated continuous tissue embedding system, the ‘Tissue-Tek AutoTEC a120.’
The Tissue-Tek AutoTEC a120 is an innovative device that automates the process of preparing tissue samples into paraffin blocks, a critical step in pathological diagnosis. It is the industry’s first fully automated continuous embedding system. Embedding involves converting tissue specimens into blocks suitable for microscopic examination, and maintaining the correct orientation and shape of the lesion is vital to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
The device leverages advanced automation technology and proprietary consumables called ‘Paraform Cassette’ to ensure consistent tissue alignment, producing high-quality, standardized blocks with minimal variation. It boasts a processing speed of up to 120 samples per hour, enabling high-throughput workflows.
During the event, JW Bioscience provided live demonstrations of the Tissue-Tek AutoTEC a120, allowing visitors to experience its features and performance firsthand. Attendees observed the device’s capacity to enhance productivity, ensure uniform quality, and reduce errors caused by manual procedures.
The company’s representatives from Sakura Finetek, the manufacturer based in Japan, also introduced the ‘SMART Automation’ line of pathology automation solutions, including the Tissue-Tek AutoTEC a120, engaging in joint marketing activities.
This showcase aims to expand JW Bioscience’s portfolio of automation equipment in response to increasing demand for advanced pathology diagnostics and to strengthen its competitiveness in the market.
A company official stated, “The Tissue-Tek AutoTEC a120 we introduced automates the traditionally manual embedding process, minimizing human errors during examination and improving diagnostic accuracy. It is a groundbreaking solution that enhances lab efficiency and operational quality through standardized, high-quality tissue blocks.”
JW Bioscience, a subsidiary of JW Life Science, specializes in in vitro diagnostics and supplies pathology automation equipment such as the continuous tissue processor ‘Xpress x120,’ the automated stainer ‘Prisma Plus,’ and film coverslippers ‘Film E2’ in South Korea through its partnership with Sakura Finetek.
