Frankfurt, Germany — From October 28 to 30, Daewoong Pharmaceutical participated in the world’s largest pharmaceutical and biotech exhibition, ‘CPHI Worldwide 2025,’ held in Frankfurt. The company announced on November 5 that it is actively expanding its global partnerships by showcasing its innovative formulation platform and biosimilar technologies.
At the event, Daewoong highlighted its key new drugs, including the gastroesophageal reflux disease treatment ‘Pexuclu’ and the diabetes medication ‘Enblow,’ based on SGLT-2 inhibitors. Additionally, the company showcased its cutting-edge micro-needle-based drug delivery platform and biosimilars. Building on previous successes at CPHI Milano last year, Daewoong focused on strengthening its global network and collaboration.
One of the items attracting significant attention was the micro-needle patch technology. This method involves attaching patches to the skin instead of injections, reducing pain and enabling self-administration. With improved bioavailability, this technology is gaining interest from global pharmaceutical companies.
Currently, Daewoong is expanding the application of this platform to several pipeline drugs, including GLP-1 analogs for obesity, growth hormones, and botulinum toxins. The company plans to solidify its position in the global innovative formulation market through these efforts.
Furthermore, Daewoong is actively developing biosimilars as a next-generation core business. The company is pursuing various business models such as in-house development, co-developments, licensing-in, and CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) collaborations, mainly targeting Europe, the U.S., and other advanced markets.
Recently, Daewoong recruited Dr. Hong Seung-seo, a renowned biosimilar expert, as Head of its Bio Strategy Division, significantly strengthening its R&D and business capabilities. The long-term goal is to incorporate its proprietary formulation platform into biosimilar development, progressing toward ‘biosimilar-to-bioneer’ transformation.
During the exhibition, Daewoong accelerated its partnership expansion in major markets, including the U.S., Europe, Latin America, Russia, the Middle East, and Africa, targeting its flagship products Pexuclu and Enblow. Several concrete collaborations were discussed with global pharmaceutical companies during the event.
In addition, Daewoong Bio set up a joint booth to promote its CDMO services and raw material drug exports. The company held meetings with 25 global pharmaceutical firms to identify new clients, aiming to diversify its supply chain and strengthen production capacity, with a target of approximately 17.4 billion KRW (around $15 million) in raw material exports.
CPHI Worldwide is the largest global pharmaceutical exhibition, attracting over 2,500 companies from more than 150 countries, with more than 40,000 attendees covering raw materials, formulation technologies, finished medicines, CDMO, and packaging across the pharmaceutical industry.
Daewoong CEO Park Sung-soo stated, “This year’s CPHI was more than just a showcase of technologies; it was an opportunity for substantive business collaborations. We will focus on our micro-needle platform and biosimilars as major growth drivers to accelerate our global healthcare market expansion.”
