Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on January 8 that the net asset value (NAV) of its TIGER KRX Physical Gold ETF (0072R0) has surpassed KRW 1 trillion.
According to the Korea Exchange, the ETF’s net assets reached KRW 1.06 trillion as of the market close on January 7. Rising gold prices, coupled with sustained inflows from retail investors, have been the primary drivers of the fund’s growth. Last year, the ETF recorded cumulative net purchases of KRW 537.8 billion by individual investors, ranking first among newly listed ETFs in terms of retail net inflows.
Gold delivered strong returns last year, hitting record highs amid ongoing global economic uncertainty. Concerns surrounding U.S. tariff policies, expectations of potential interest rate cuts, and declining confidence in Federal Reserve policy have boosted demand for gold as both a safe-haven asset and an inflation hedge.
The TIGER KRX Physical Gold ETF directly invests in 99.99% pure physical gold listed on the KRX Gold Market, with the assets securely stored at the Korea Securities Depository. The ETF charges an annual total expense ratio of 0.15%, the lowest among domestic gold ETFs. Unlike feeder ETFs that invest in overseas gold ETFs, it avoids double-layered fee structures by holding physical gold directly.
Mirae Asset Global Investments has built extensive expertise in gold-related ETFs across global markets. Its lineup includes the world’s first physical gold ETF listed in Australia, Global X Physical Gold (GOLD AU), as well as yield-focused and gold mining equity products such as Global X Gold Yield and Global X Gold Producers, offered across the U.S., Canada, India, and other major markets.
Kim Nam-ho, Head of Global ETF Management at Mirae Asset Global Investments, said gold recorded its strongest annual performance in 46 years. He added that the upward momentum in gold prices is expected to remain intact this year, noting that for long-term investors seeking a safe-haven asset, the TIGER KRX Physical Gold ETF offers a highly competitive option with the lowest fee structure in the domestic market.
