Hana Financial Group is expanding its digital finance business through a new partnership with Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) and Hanwha Asset Management, with a focus on stablecoins, digital assets and cross-border financial infrastructure.
The three organizations signed a memorandum of understanding to explore new business opportunities and strengthen financial connectivity between Korea and Abu Dhabi by combining their expertise, networks and capabilities in finance and digital assets.
The agreement was signed on Sept. 16 at JW Marriott Seoul. The signing ceremony was attended by Eom Tae-sung, senior executive at Hana Financial Group; Rashed Abdulkarim Al Blooshi, CEO of the ADGM Registration Authority; and Baek Seung-pil, senior executive and head of the Digital Innovation Office at Hanwha Asset Management.
Under the agreement, the partners will jointly explore business opportunities related to stablecoins, digital assets and payment infrastructure. They will also look into expanding cross-border payment and remittance solutions while working toward a more sustainable and interoperable digital-asset ecosystem.
The partnership comes as Abu Dhabi strengthens its role as an international financial and digital-asset hub. Established in 2015, ADGM has developed an ecosystem involving global financial institutions, institutional investors, fintech firms and digital-asset companies.
ADGM has also introduced regulatory and institutional frameworks for digital assets, supporting the development of related businesses and financial services.
For Hana Financial Group, the agreement is expected to provide a new channel for connecting Korea's financial sector with Abu Dhabi's growing digital finance ecosystem. Hanwha Asset Management will contribute its expertise in asset management and digital innovation as the three parties identify potential business models.
The cooperation also reflects growing industry interest in stablecoins as a potential tool for payments, remittances and other cross-border financial services.
A Hana Financial Group official said the agreement represents “a new starting point for cooperation connecting Korea's financial market with Abu Dhabi,” adding that the three organizations will work together to develop practical business models in digital assets and cross-border finance.
