LG CNS is accelerating its global expansion with a next-generation logistics robot capable of operating continuously even in extreme low-temperature environments.
The company introduced its automated logistics robot, “Mobile Shuttle,” at Modex 2026, North America’s largest logistics exhibition, held in Atlanta on April 13 (local time). The system is designed to function reliably at temperatures as low as -26°C, making it suitable for cold chain logistics applications in industries such as food and retail, while improving workplace safety and operational efficiency.
The Mobile Shuttle system consists of dozens to hundreds of shuttle robots that move within warehouse racks at speeds of up to 1.5 meters per second. Each robot can carry loads of up to 1,500 kilograms. Featuring a four-way shuttle structure capable of horizontal and vertical movement, the system minimizes route constraints and enables flexible logistics flows, maximizing processing efficiency. Its high-density storage design delivers more than 30% greater storage efficiency compared to conventional systems.
LG CNS has also integrated AI agent capabilities to enhance usability. In emergency situations, such as urgent shipments, operators can control shuttle robots through natural language commands via a chatbot interface. When anomalies occur, the AI agent analyzes the cause and provides response guidelines, improving operational stability and responsiveness.
The system further incorporates mathematical optimization technology to maximize logistics efficiency. It analyzes robot movement and task status in real time to minimize bottlenecks and optimize inbound and outbound operations, automatically assigning the most efficient tasks to each shuttle robot.
The Mobile Shuttle is designed to safely transport not only general cargo but also cylindrical items such as automotive batteries. It has also obtained UL certification, a key safety standard for electrical and mechanical equipment in the United States. Customers can build customized logistics systems by selecting shuttle types and materials tailored to their operational environments.
LG CNS is expanding its presence in the global market with proven references. Following its initial unveiling at Promat 2025 in Chicago, the company recently signed a contract to deploy a Mobile Shuttle-based logistics automation system at a Paris Baguette manufacturing facility under construction in Texas. The system will handle precise sorting and transportation of baking ingredients in sub-zero environments.
Additionally, large-scale shuttle robot systems have been implemented at LG affiliates’ manufacturing facilities in North America.
“We have expanded the scope of logistics automation to include refrigerated and frozen environments with our Mobile Shuttle,” said Junho Lee, Head of Smart Logistics & City at LG CNS. “We will continue to grow our global business based on differentiated high-density and high-efficiency logistics capabilities.”
