Campaign allows eligible users to buy USDC directly into self-custodial wallets, while Stellar network fees continue to apply

Mercuryo and hardware-wallet provider Tangem said in London on September 16 that they have launched a four-week campaign waiving their fees on purchases of USD Coin (USDC) through the Stellar network. Eligible users can buy the dollar-backed stablecoin directly into a Tangem self-custodial wallet.

The campaign supports credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Each purchase must be at least $150 or €150 and cannot exceed $700 or €700 per transaction.

The offer applies only to purchases of USDC and supports selected local currencies. Users in the United States, United Kingdom and European Economic Area are excluded, while Stellar network transaction fees remain payable.

Users must also hold Stellar’s native XLM token to complete transactions on the network. Those without an existing XLM balance can first add between €10 and €50 worth of XLM to their Tangem wallet under the same fee-waiver campaign.

Stablecoin access moves closer to self-custody

The promotion connects conventional payment methods with a self-custodial wallet, allowing users to control the purchased USDC from the point of acquisition. It comes as stablecoins expand beyond crypto trading into payments, transfers and other financial services, increasing demand for direct routes between local currencies and blockchain-based assets.

“We’re delighted to launch this zero-fee on-ramp for USDC on Stellar with Tangem,” said Arthur Firstov, chief business officer at Mercuryo. “As stablecoin utility expands across the crypto ecosystem, this offer gives Tangem users a straightforward way to obtain access to USDC.”

Stanislav Bublik, head of investment products at Tangem, said the campaign enables users to purchase USDC directly into a self-custodial wallet and retain control of the assets from the moment of purchase.

Mercuryo provides payment infrastructure connecting conventional and blockchain-based financial services. Tangem develops hardware wallets that allow users to hold and manage digital assets without placing custody with a centralized platform.
