LG CNS is expanding its robot transformation (RX) business with the launch of a dedicated organization, the “RX Innovation Lab,” aimed at supporting enterprise-wide adoption of robotics and operational innovation.
The newly established unit is designed to assist companies throughout the entire process of robot adoption, from strategy development to implementation. LG CNS said the lab will operate a three-stage program to guide clients through robot-driven transformation.
The first stage, “Insight,” focuses on analyzing industry characteristics, on-site environments, and business processes to identify areas where robotics can be effectively applied. In the second stage, “Design,” the company selects optimal robot solutions—including autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and humanoids—and redesigns workflows by defining roles between humans and machines while incorporating safety and quality standards.
The final stage, “Proof,” involves building robot systems based on worker behavior data and conducting proof-of-concept (PoC) tests to evaluate feasibility, productivity, safety, and operational efficiency in real-world environments.
LG CNS emphasized that its approach goes beyond simple process automation, aiming instead to redesign entire workflows. For example, in logistics operations, the company analyzes the full process from inbound to outbound handling, identifies segments where robotics can deliver the greatest impact, and optimizes routes, processing times, and human-robot collaboration through data-driven modeling.
The company has accumulated experience through multiple PoC projects across logistics and manufacturing sites, deploying a range of robotic systems such as warehouse automation robots, AI-powered picking robots, AMRs, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). These solutions have been applied in real industrial settings, including cargo loading and sorting, as well as ship assembly inspection and quality control.
With the launch of the RX Innovation Lab, LG CNS now aims to establish a comprehensive enterprise innovation framework spanning digital transformation (DX), AI transformation (AX), and robot transformation (RX). The company has previously conducted around 140 client innovation programs through its Innovation Studio and Gen AI Studio, and plans to further integrate digital technologies, AI, and robotics into a unified service offering.
LG CNS is also strengthening its capabilities in physical AI technologies. To advance robot foundation models (RFM) tailored to industrial applications, the company is collaborating with U.S.-based Skild AI and robotics control specialist Config. It has also developed its own integrated platform for managing heterogeneous robot systems.
Earlier this year, LG CNS made a strategic investment in U.S. humanoid robotics company Dexmate to enhance its hardware design capabilities. The company plans to deliver a full-stack RX service that combines RFM, platform technologies, and hardware.
LG CNS CEO Hyun Shinkyun said the essence of robot transformation lies not in simple automation but in redesigning entire business processes and productivity structures. He added that the company aims to build a physical AI-based RX model to help clients improve operational efficiency and accelerate growth.
