Hanwha Group’s Tech and Life Solutions divisions are accelerating efforts to develop new business models based on cross-division collaboration ahead of an upcoming corporate spin-off of several affiliates. The strategy focuses on combining technology and service capabilities to enhance customer convenience while creating new revenue streams through expansion into emerging markets.
With the launch of the new holding company Hanwha Machinery & Services Holdings approaching, several early collaboration cases have been disclosed, signaling that strategic cooperation and investment between the two divisions are expected to expand further. Hanwha Group previously announced plans to spin off certain affiliates and establish a new holding company, stating that it aims to enhance corporate value by identifying new businesses built on cross-division synergies.
Following the initial collaboration initiatives, the two divisions plan to actively develop new technologies and customized services that can be applied across various industries, including distribution and service sectors.
Ourhome, which is expanding its presence in the food market through group catering and food distribution businesses, will begin pilot adoption of artificial intelligence technologies developed by Hanwha Vision at selected facilities. The initiative is designed to strengthen workplace safety, improve food hygiene and quality control, and enhance the efficiency of food ingredient supply chains.
AI cameras installed in kitchens will monitor chefs’ attire and compliance with hygiene protocols in real time as soon as they enter the cooking area. The system can also detect unusual sounds or temperature changes to help prevent safety incidents such as fires.
In addition, the company plans to introduce an intelligent automated ordering system aimed at improving supply chain efficiency. Barcode recognition and video-based BCR cameras will automatically register inventory when food ingredients are received. Based on this data, an AI system will generate purchase orders automatically as part of a customized supply chain management solution. AI cameras will also analyze diners’ menu preferences to help optimize meal planning.
Advanced technologies will also be applied in the retail and tourism sectors. Hanwha Vision and Hanwha Robotics technologies are expected to support personalized customer services at Galleria Department Store locations as well as hotels and resorts.
AI cameras will analyze store congestion levels, customer movement patterns, and preferences to improve operational efficiency and enhance the overall customer experience. The system will also send immediate alerts to staff when unusual situations occur.
In addition, the food and beverage businesses across Hanwha affiliates plan to introduce collaborative robots developed by Hanwha Robotics, including solutions such as VINOBOT and cooking robots, to strengthen customer service capabilities.
A Hanwha Galleria official said that expanded collaboration with the Tech Solutions division will further enhance customer service and operational quality. By accumulating and analyzing diverse customer data, the company aims to provide more personalized services while also driving revenue growth.
Once the ongoing corporate spin-off process is completed, the two divisions plan to establish a dedicated organization to accelerate the discovery of new synergy-based businesses. Newly developed technologies will first be applied within Life division operations before being developed into scalable business models for external markets.
A Hanwha official said cross-division synergy represents a key indicator of the future strategy envisioned by Hanwha Machinery & Services Holdings. The company plans to continue investing in research and development while strengthening collaboration to introduce technologies that make everyday life more convenient.
