KB Kookmin Bank announced on October 27 that in cooperation with Samsung Seoul Hospital, five children with heart disease from Indonesia have been invited to South Korea to receive surgery and medical support.
This initiative is part of KB Kookmin Bank's global social contribution activities, carried out based on the ‘Heart and Craniofacial Surgery Support Collaboration Agreement’ signed with Samsung Seoul Hospital last year. Through this agreement, the bank has been providing opportunities for surgery and treatment to children with heart disease in Indonesia, where medical infrastructure is lacking, on an annual basis.
On October 24, Park Seung-woo, director of Samsung Seoul Hospital, and Lee Jong-min, vice president of the KB Kookmin Bank Management Planning Group, visited the children who successfully underwent surgery and are now in recovery. They personally delivered gifts and offered words of encouragement.
Since 2012, KB Kookmin Bank has been operating an annual project to invite children with heart disease from Cambodia, supporting a total of 107 children by providing free surgery. Additionally, in 2014, the bank established the ‘KB Kookmin Bank Hebron Heart Center’ in Cambodia, supporting both surgeries and scholarship programs.
A KB Kookmin Bank spokesperson stated, “We hope that children who have endured difficult surgeries can enjoy a healthy life,” and added, “We will continue to pay close attention and provide ongoing support to help children grow up healthy.”
This effort exemplifies the bank’s commitment to contributing to global healthcare and supporting children with congenital and severe health conditions.
