POSCO E&C announced on October 22nd that its innovative landscaping project ‘Farm Fit’ has received the top honor in the Inclusive Design category at the 2025 Red Dot Design Award, one of the world's top three design competitions. The award was presented for the company’s pioneering concept of a multi-functional landscape space that promotes inclusivity and community engagement.

This achievement adds to POSCO E&C's impressive list of awards at major domestic and international design contests, reaffirming its leadership in global landscaping and urban space design. Additionally, at the 15th Korea Landscaping Award held on October 21st, ‘Park1538 Gwangyang’ received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award, and ‘The Shap Jinju Pierre’ secured the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Award, highlighting the company’s excellence in both domestic and international arenas.

‘Farm Fit,’ which won at the prestigious Red Dot Awards, is a lifestyle-oriented complex landscape space merging ‘farm’ and ‘fitness.’ It is designed as an external community space where residents can enjoy agricultural activities, leisure, exercise, and social interactions simultaneously. Notably, the design replaces traditional grid-patterned gardens with circular modular structures, enhancing inclusivity and safety.

The project embodies universal design principles, making it accessible and usable by people of all ages, genders, and disabilities. Beyond aesthetic landscaping, it fosters intergenerational交流 and community building, showcasing an innovative model for sustainable and inclusive urban spaces.

‘Park1538 Gwangyang’ is a multifunctional cultural space near POSCO’s Gwangyang Steelworks, symbolizing the ‘Light Wave’ that represents the melting point of pure iron at 1,538°C. The design captures the passion and potential of humanity through its conceptualization. Its exterior features POSCO’s corrosion-resistant premium steel ‘PosMAC,’ and the landscape utilizes eco-friendly planters made from recycled steel byproducts. High renewable carbon absorption plants are incorporated as a model for environmentally sustainable landscaping. The park and walking trails, along with the ‘Smart Light’ responsive sculptures, offer visitors a peaceful natural retreat amid the steel city.

‘The Shap Jinju Pierre’ was designed to minimize landscape disruption while seamlessly connecting residential complexes with outdoor parks and a public library, boosting accessibility and quality of life for residents. The park functions like a backyard garden and is celebrated as a pioneering model for urban green leisure, receiving high resident satisfaction.

In addition to these awards, POSCO E&C has achieved continuous success in numerous prominent competitions, including the 2023 US IDEA Design Award for ‘The Shap Bioferralic,’ the 2024 IFLA World Landscape Architecture Award for ‘The Shap Gallery,’ and consecutive Minister of Environment awards at the Korea Landscaping Awards.

A POSCO E&C spokesperson stated, “This recognition affirms our philosophy of designing sustainable and inclusive spaces,” adding, “We will continue leading the industry by creating environmentally harmonious spaces that prioritize people and the planet, guiding the future of construction and landscaping innovation.”
