SEOUL — February 19, 2026 — In a Feb. 19 statement, Pulmuone reported that tofu sales at its U.S. subsidiary reached a record KRW 224.2 billion in 2025 (approximately USD 157.6 million), up 12.2% from the prior year, as distribution widened and new customer accounts were added.
According to Pulmuone, the increase reflects growing demand for plant-based protein and broader sales coverage across retail, food service, and business-to-business ingredients. The company said revenue contributions from additional accounts secured in late Q3 2025 are expected to carry into 2026.
High-protein tofu is cited as a major driver
Pulmuone attributed part of the increase to its High Protein Tofu line. The company reported that segment sales rose from KRW 15.6 billion in 2021 to KRW 41.5 billion in 2025, nearly tripling over the period.
Pulmuone said High Protein Tofu contains 14g of protein per 85g serving and is vacuum-packed without water. The company described the packaging format as intended to shorten preparation time and support cooking methods such as pan-searing or air frying. Pulmuone also said the product is positioned for use in everyday dishes, including salads, stir-fries, and sandwiches.
Additional channels and 2026 capacity expansion
Pulmuone said tofu sales have been increasing across additional channels, including global restaurant franchises and B2B food materials, and added that it plans to pursue further opportunities such as school meal programs and health-focused restaurants.
To support supply, Pulmuone stated it expects to complete an expansion of production lines at its Ayer, Massachusetts tofu plant within Q1 2026. The company added that it plans to expand soft-tofu production facilities at its Fullerton, California plant and to launch new products aimed at entering additional tofu segments.
Market position and operating footprint
Pulmuone said tofu is a core category for Pulmuone Foods USA and accounts for roughly half of the subsidiary’s revenue. The company stated that 2026 marks its 11th consecutive year as the No. 1 brand in the U.S. tofu market.
Pulmuone cited its 2016 acquisition of Nasoya, which it described as a leading U.S. tofu brand, and said it has continued to expand local production and introduce products tailored to U.S. preferences. The company reported its U.S. tofu sales have set new highs each year since 2021.
Pulmuone said it operates three tofu plants in the United States, including facilities in Fullerton, California, and Ayer, Massachusetts, using local production to support nationwide distribution. The company reported its products are sold in about 15,000 retail locations, including Walmart, Target, Publix, and Kroger.
Pulmuone listed key items in its portfolio as Extra Firm Tofu, High Protein Tofu, Tofubaked, and Toss’ables. The company added that High Protein Tofu contains 1.8 times more protein than its standard tofu products.
Marketing and consumer education efforts
Pulmuone said it continues to promote tofu’s nutritional profile and culinary versatility through online content and promotions. The company stated it has worked since January 2025 with a WNBA player and a sports-nutrition influencer on a “Power of 9” campaign, which highlights tofu protein as containing all nine essential amino acids, and shares recipes via its website and social channels.
KS Cho, CEO of Pulmuone Foods USA, said tofu demand in the U.S. is increasing as flexitarian diets expand and consumers seek higher-protein, plant-based foods. He added that the company plans to expand supply and pursue additional channels alongside retail growth.
