LG Uplus has signaled a strategic shift toward becoming an AI-driven platform company, placing voice-based artificial intelligence at the center of its business direction during its debut at the World IT Show, South Korea’s largest ICT exhibition.

The company’s participation in the event marks its first appearance at the annual showcase, but more notably, it reflects a broader effort to present its mid- to long-term AI strategy to the industry. Rather than limiting its presence to a technology exhibition, LG Uplus used the platform to outline its evolving role beyond traditional telecommunications services.

At the core of its message was the concept of “human-centered AI.” The company emphasized voice AI as a key interface for enabling more natural interaction between users and technology. This aligns with a broader industry trend, as global tech firms increasingly invest in AI agents capable of contextual understanding and autonomous action.

A central feature of the exhibition was “ixi-O Pro,” an advanced version of LG Uplus’ AI agent. Unlike conventional voice recognition systems that simply execute commands, the upgraded model analyzes user intent and conversational context to proactively suggest actions. The approach reflects a shift in AI development—from passive tools to more autonomous, decision-support systems.

The exhibition itself was designed to prioritize user experience over technical specifications. Through kiosk-based demonstrations and simulated real-world scenarios, LG Uplus illustrated how voice AI could be integrated into both everyday life and workplace environments. The emphasis on experiential engagement suggests a strategic focus on usability and accessibility as key differentiators.

The company also explored the expansion of voice AI into creative domains. An interactive media art installation analyzed visitors’ voices—capturing emotional tone and expression—and translated them into visual forms. The project highlights how AI technologies are extending beyond functional applications into emotional and artistic interpretation, an area increasingly viewed as a potential frontier for differentiation.

Security technologies were another major component of the showcase. LG Uplus introduced homomorphic encryption-based systems that allow data processing without decryption, addressing growing concerns over privacy and data protection in AI services. As regulatory scrutiny intensifies globally, such technologies are becoming critical to ensuring trust in AI-driven platforms.

In addition, LG Uplus outlined its strategy for enterprise customers. The company presented AI-powered customer service solutions that move beyond traditional call center automation, alongside on-premise AI systems that enable organizations to utilize AI without transferring sensitive data externally. This approach aims to balance efficiency with data sovereignty.

Industry observers view LG Uplus’ latest move as a sign that telecom operators are transitioning from experimental AI adoption to scalable, service-level implementation. In particular, voice-based interfaces are emerging as a key battleground in the evolving AI landscape.

During the exhibition period, LG Uplus is also expected to further elaborate on its “Agentic AI” strategy and long-term business roadmap through conference sessions.
