LG Display announced that it will unveil a 27-inch 4K OLED monitor panel featuring an RGB stripe pixel structure at CES 2026, marking the first public presentation of this technology. The panel is the world’s first OLED display to combine an RGB stripe structure with a 240Hz refresh rate.
The RGB stripe structure aligns red, green, and blue subpixels in a straight line, significantly reducing visual distortions such as color bleeding and color fringing that can occur when viewing a screen at close range. However, conventional RGB stripe OLED panels have been limited to refresh rates of up to 60Hz, restricting their use in high-performance gaming monitors.
LG Display’s newly developed panel overcomes this limitation by achieving both an RGB stripe structure and a high 240Hz refresh rate. The company has applied its proprietary Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) technology, allowing users to select either a 240Hz refresh rate at UHD resolution or switch to an ultra-high refresh rate mode of up to 480Hz at FHD resolution.
The panel is designed to deliver outstanding performance in fast-paced applications such as first-person shooter games, where rapid screen transitions are critical. At the same time, it is optimized for operating systems and font rendering engines, offering high readability and accurate color reproduction. With a pixel density of 160 pixels per inch, the panel also delivers sharp and detailed image quality.
LG Display plans to initially apply the new pixel structure to high-end gaming monitors and professional-grade monitor panels. Through CES 2026, the company intends to strengthen promotion to global customers and further expand its product portfolio.
Until now, premium gaming OLED monitor panels have largely relied on RGWB structures that include white subpixels, or triangle-based RGB pixel arrangements. LG Display succeeded in simultaneously implementing an RGB stripe structure and high refresh rates by developing a new pixel pattern optimized for monitor environments, increasing pixel aperture ratios, and introducing multiple technological innovations.
LG Display currently mass-produces approximately 30 percent of the world’s OLED monitor panels and is accelerating its push into the high-end monitor market. The company is widely regarded as having secured world-class competitiveness across key specifications, including refresh rate, response time, and resolution, among gaming OLED panels already in mass production.
Lee Hyun-woo, Head of the Large Display Business Unit at LG Display, said that differentiated technology is essential to securing competitiveness in the rapidly growing OLED monitor market. He added that LG Display will continue to strengthen its leadership in the global market by focusing on technologies that customers want and that have proven business potential.
