Hana Bank announced on the 5th (local time) that it has opened a new Subic Office in the Philippines as part of its strategy to strengthen its banking network across Southeast Asia.
Subic is a special economic zone located about 100 kilometers northwest of Manila, where HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Philippine subsidiary is based. The company has recently reorganized production facilities at the former Subic Shipyard and plans to resume full-scale shipbuilding operations in the second half of 2025, with an annual production target of up to 10 vessels, aiming to develop Subic into a key shipbuilding hub in Southeast Asia.
The newly established Subic Office will primarily support the financial needs of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and other Korean companies operating in the region. It will also provide financial services for the Korean expatriate community and local customers.
Hana Bank said the office will leverage its long-standing experience in the Philippines, including its Manila branch established in 1981 as the first Korean bank presence in the country, to expand its service coverage to the nearby Clark area and further strengthen its local network.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines, KOTRA, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Philippine subsidiary, and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), among other local stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Hana Bank continues to expand its global presence. Following the planned establishment of two new branches in India in the second half of 2025, the bank now operates 114 networks across 27 regions worldwide, the largest overseas network among Korean banks. The bank said it will continue to support Korean companies’ overseas expansion while driving the global growth of Korean financial services.
