Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on October 16 that its subsidiary Global X has exceeded KRW 100 trillion (about $73.6 billion) in assets under management (AUM) in the United States. Since Mirae Asset acquired Global X in 2018, U.S. AUM has expanded more than 13-fold over seven years, establishing the firm as a global ETF manager in the world’s largest ETF market.

As of October 15, Global X manages 101 ETFs in the U.S., with total AUM of $73.5 billion (approximately KRW 104.99 trillion). At the time of acquisition in 2018, AUM was roughly $1 billion (around KRW 8 trillion), marking substantial growth. Assets rose to $42.4 billion at the end of 2023 and $53.9 billion at the end of 2024, reflecting a five‑year compound annual growth rate of 37.7%—well above the U.S. ETF market’s average growth rate of 20.2% over the same period.

Global X has gained recognition among local investors as a leading “innovation ETF” brand through differentiated, theme- and tech-focused ETFs. Flagship products such as Global X Defense Tech (SHLD US) have broadened exposure to European defense firms to diversify geopolitical risk and included next‑generation, AI‑enabled defense companies, delivering stronger returns versus peers. The Artificial Intelligence & Technology ETF (AIQ US) invests across the AI ecosystem—including AI software and big data—and attracted more than $2.8 billion in inflows this year alone.

Product development has remained active. In June, Global X launched the Bitcoin covered‑call ETF (Global X Bitcoin Covered Call, BCCC US) and an AI‑driven bond ETF (Global X Investment Grade Corporate Bond, GXIG US), combining crypto exposure with AI-based strategies. Earlier this month, the newly listed AI Semiconductor & Quantum ETF (CHPX US) drew investor attention amid rising interest in AI chips and quantum computing.

Mirae Asset also operates ETFs across major global markets. As of the end of September, total net assets of ETFs managed in markets including Korea, the U.S., Canada, Australia, India and Japan stood at approximately KRW 262 trillion—exceeding the entire domestic Korean ETF market (about KRW 250 trillion) and placing Mirae Asset roughly 12th among global ETF managers by size.

“We are strengthening our presence across global markets, including the United States—the world’s largest ETF market—leveraging our extensive global network,” said Young‑hwan Kim, Head of Innovation & Global Management at Mirae Asset Global Investments.
