LONDON — March 2, 2026 — Yellow, a Web3 infrastructure provider offering developer tools for decentralized applications, announced the stable release of Nitrolite Protocol v1.0.0, describing it as the first production-ready specification and implementation of its state channel framework. The company said the protocol is now a core component of the Yellow SDK and its broader “Web3 clearing” stack, intended to support scalable, cross-chain application design.
The announcement comes ahead of Yellow’s planned public launch, which the company has promoted for Sunday. Yellow said its proprietary trading platform is expected to go live at that time.
Nitrolite is designed to support off-chain interactions while reducing the number of operations executed directly on a blockchain. Yellow said the protocol establishes a virtual ledger—referred to as the Clearnet—that abstracts application logic from the underlying chain. Under this model, applications can escrow funds and exchange state updates off-chain, while relying on on-chain settlement primarily for finalization and dispute resolution.
With the v1.0.0 release, Yellow said Nitrolite provides a stable base for building decentralized applications that require higher throughput and lower transaction costs than typical on-chain execution. The company also emphasized support for dispute handling and cross-chain state transitions, positioning these features as necessary for operational reliability in production environments.
“We built the Yellow SDK and clearing network to help developers unlock the full capabilities of their applications,” said Alessio Tregli, Chief Technology Officer at Yellow Network. He added that the v1.0.0 release enables developers to build “high-performance” off-chain protocols using Yellow’s SDK on top of an open state channel framework.
Yellow said the release is intended to support future additions, including cross-chain bridging features, liquidity pooling layers, and expanded virtual application capabilities for multi-party use cases. The company also referenced plans for additional tooling, including enhanced visual debugging environments.
Yellow Network was founded in 2018 with the stated aim of addressing liquidity fragmentation in crypto markets by connecting participants through state channels. State channels are private, off-chain channels that allow parties to exchange updates at high frequency with limited on-chain interaction, typically recording only the final outcome on-chain for settlement.
