LG Group is moving quickly to turn its artificial intelligence (AI) partnership with NVIDIA into concrete business opportunities, as senior executives from its major affiliates are set to hold follow-up discussions at the U.S. chipmaker's headquarters.
According to industry sources, a delegation of executives from LG Group will visit NVIDIA's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, on June 22 (local time) to discuss cooperation in physical AI, robotics and AI infrastructure.
The delegation includes Hyun Shin-kyun, CEO of LG CNS; Chung Soo-heon, head of LG Sciencepark; Kim Byung-hoon, chief technology officer of LG Electronics; Lee Hyun-wook, head of LG Electronics' HS Research Center; and Min Jon, CTO of LG Innotek, along with other senior executives and working-level officials.
The two sides are expected to explore potential commercialization opportunities and identify priority projects for collaboration. Discussions are likely to focus on combining LG's strengths in home appliances, mobility and manufacturing with NVIDIA's AI platforms and computing technologies.
The meeting comes just two weeks after LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang met in Seoul and agreed to build partnerships across the AI ecosystem, including physical AI, AI infrastructure and future mobility.
Industry observers say the swift progression from a top-level meeting to working-level discussions underscores both companies' determination to accelerate cooperation in next-generation AI technologies.
Physical AI—where artificial intelligence interacts with and controls real-world systems such as robots, autonomous vehicles and smart factories—is increasingly viewed as the next frontier in the AI industry.
"LG possesses a broad industrial foundation in areas such as home appliances, automotive components and manufacturing, while NVIDIA has unrivaled competitiveness in AI chips and software platforms," an industry official said. "The combination of these strengths could create significant synergies."
Another industry source noted that the partnership could expand beyond AI infrastructure to include industrial robots, smart manufacturing and future mobility solutions.
Market watchers also expect the collaboration to strengthen LG's broader AI transformation strategy and create new growth opportunities across its businesses.
"The fact that practical discussions are taking place so soon after the meeting between the two CEOs suggests both companies are serious about turning their partnership into tangible projects," a business official said. "Any concrete collaboration could have a significant impact on South Korea's AI ecosystem."
