As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes a defining factor in corporate competitiveness, organizations are facing a new imperative: transforming not only their technologies but also the way they operate. SK AX has partnered with global HR consulting firm Mercer to develop next-generation organizational models and AI-driven workplace environments designed for the age of AI.

SK AX announced on June 8 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mercer to jointly develop an “AI+Human” organizational operating model and build an agentic AI platform. The signing ceremony took place at SK AX headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, attended by Kim Wanjong, President of SK AX, and Jiwon Chang, Co-CEO of Mercer Korea, along with senior executives from both companies.

The partnership goes beyond applying AI to individual business processes. Its primary objective is to establish organizational environments where AI can function as a core operational component. Under the envisioned model, repetitive tasks traditionally handled by employees will be delegated to AI systems, allowing human workers to focus on judgment, decision-making, and creative problem-solving.

As enterprises increasingly adopt generative AI, many are seeking practical ways to maximize its business impact. The emergence of agentic AI—capable of independently performing tasks or collaborating with human workers—has highlighted the limitations of conventional organizational structures and HR frameworks in adapting to rapidly evolving workplace requirements.

To address these challenges, the two companies will jointly develop AI-centered organizational operating models and HR transformation frameworks. The collaboration will support the design of human-AI role allocation structures, the implementation of AI agent-based work environments, talent acquisition and development strategies, and advanced performance evaluation systems.

Under the agreement, Mercer will contribute its global expertise in organizational and HR consulting, including organizational diagnostics and human resources system design. SK AX will provide the technological foundation by developing AI platforms and solutions that can be deployed in real-world business environments.

A key component of the initiative is SK AX’s intelligent HR platform, which integrates AI across the entire HR lifecycle, from recruitment and training to performance management and evaluation. The platform is designed to analyze workforce capabilities and operational data, recommend optimal talent management strategies, and enhance organizational decision-making through automation and advanced analytics.

The partnership will also offer customized AI talent development programs. Leveraging SK AX’s AI competency assessment program, “AI Literacy,” and its hands-on training curriculum, “AI BootCamp,” organizations will be able to strengthen employees’ AI capabilities and equip them to solve real-world business challenges.

Through this collaboration, SK AX and Mercer aim to help enterprises move beyond basic AI adoption and transition into fully AI-native organizations where AI is embedded at the core of business operations.

“In the AI era, competitiveness will be determined not only by technology itself but by how quickly organizations can build structures that enable people and AI to work together effectively,” said Kim Wanjong, President of SK AX. “By combining our respective strengths, we will support customers in driving organizational innovation and improving productivity.”

“Many organizations are now confronting the challenge of transforming their HR and organizational systems following AI adoption,” said Jiwon Chang, Co-CEO of Mercer Korea. “By bringing together Mercer’s HR expertise and SK AX’s AI capabilities, we aim to deliver meaningful organizational change and measurable business outcomes.”
