Schwyz, Switzerland, Dec. 16, 2025 — The Hashgraph Group (THG), a Switzerland-based Web3 engineering company operating within the Hedera ecosystem, has launched EcoGuard, a digital workflow platform designed to improve transparency, traceability, and regulatory compliance in global carbon markets.
EcoGuard is built on the Hedera distributed ledger network and is intended to manage the full lifecycle of carbon credits, from creation and verification to issuance, tracking, trading, and retirement. By embedding data provenance and cryptographic verification directly into carbon-market processes, the platform aims to address long-standing concerns over credibility, scalability, and oversight.
Global carbon markets, led by compliance-based trading systems, are projected to expand significantly over the next decade. However, they continue to face challenges related to inconsistent reporting standards, fragmented infrastructure, and concerns over greenwashing. THG positions EcoGuard as an enterprise-grade system capable of supporting regulatory frameworks in compliance carbon markets, particularly for government and institutional use.
Unlike conventional ESG reporting tools, EcoGuard does not impose a single data structure or fixed operational flow. Instead, it provides modular components for workflow management, decentralized identity, and verifiable credentials through THG’s IDTrust framework. This approach allows organizations to configure processes according to sector-specific or jurisdictional requirements. The platform is built on a business process management engine designed to automate and verify complex, multi-party workflows, with transaction records anchored on Hedera for auditability.
Stefan Deiss, co-founder and chief executive of The Hashgraph Group, said EcoGuard is intended to provide organizations with a verifiable and scalable infrastructure for carbon compliance, while supporting efforts to meet net-zero and sustainability targets.
EcoGuard forms part of THG’s broader “Hashgraph for Enterprise” product portfolio, which focuses on deploying Web3-based systems for regulated industries. The platform is designed to integrate with existing ESG and reporting tools, supporting both compliance and voluntary carbon markets. THG said its architecture prioritizes operational stability, risk management, and data reliability for large-scale deployments.
Micha Roon, head of engineering at THG, said the platform builds on the company’s prior work in digital identity and leverages Hedera’s cost efficiency to enable secure, large-scale operation without compromising transparency or cryptographic assurance.
The platform also incorporates fraud-detection features and automated workflows intended to support compliant ESG reporting. Operational support is provided through HashCare, THG’s managed services framework for Hedera-based applications, which includes continuous monitoring and enterprise-level service agreements.
THG said EcoGuard aligns with its ongoing work with public-sector partners on sustainability and digital infrastructure projects. The company is involved in several government-led carbon initiatives and plans to announce additional partnerships focused on digital transformation and climate policy at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026.
