44 new contracts in Germany from January to May signal growing demand beyond detection accuracy
Coreline Soft is expanding its role in Germany’s lung cancer screening market beyond that of a traditional AI software provider. As low-dose CT (LDCT)-based lung cancer screening becomes part of Germany’s statutory health insurance system, medical AI companies are increasingly expected to support not only lesion detection, but also double reading, structured reporting, long-term follow-up and quality management.
The Korean medical AI company is collaborating with Mint Medical, a Heidelberg-based medical imaging software firm, to integrate its AVIEW chest CT AI platform with Mint Medical’s structured reporting and data management platform, mint Lesion. The partnership is designed to ensure that AI-detected lung nodule findings can be incorporated into real-world radiology interpretation, standardized reporting, longitudinal follow-up and multi-site screening operations.
Germany established the regulatory framework for LDCT-based lung cancer screening within its statutory health insurance system in April 2026. While the move has created a significant new opportunity for medical AI providers, it has also introduced operational requirements that extend far beyond standalone detection software. Hospitals and radiology networks must now manage CAD software utilization, independent double reading, structured reporting, long-term follow-up, quality assurance, and multi-center data operations under strict privacy standards.
Screening Operations Become the New Competitive Edge
The shift is reshaping how medical AI is commercialized. In the past, the primary question was how accurately AI could detect abnormalities. In Germany’s lung cancer screening market, the more important question is whether AI can function reliably within a national screening program.
Population-based screening is not a one-time diagnostic event. It requires repeated examinations, longitudinal comparisons, follow-up planning and continuous quality assurance. AI findings must therefore be structured within reports, compared against previous scans and integrated into follow-up schedules and quality management systems.
German Contracts Point to Recurring Revenue Potential
Coreline Soft’s recent performance in Germany reflects this trend. The company signed 10 new hospital contracts in Germany last year. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, it secured 11 new contracts, surpassing its entire annual performance from the previous year within just three months. It then added 12 contracts in April and 21 in May, bringing the total number of new contracts signed between January and May to 44—approximately 4.4 times the number recorded during all of last year.
The increase in contracts does not immediately translate into revenue recognition. Following each agreement, hospitals typically require installation, system integration, cybersecurity validation, clinician training and workflow configuration. Actual AI reading volumes and usage-based revenue indicators are expected to emerge gradually during the second half of the year.
Nevertheless, the rapid growth in contracts is significant because it may serve as an early indicator of future pay-per-use (PPU) and SaaS-based recurring revenue as Germany’s lung cancer screening program scales up.
From AI Detection to Structured Reporting and Follow-Up
The strategic significance of the partnership becomes clearer through Mint Medical’s role. The Heidelberg-based company specializes in structured reporting and clinical research data management. Its flagship platform, mint Lesion, integrates partner technologies directly into radiologists’ reporting workflows and enables imaging-derived information to be documented in a standardized format.
This allows radiologists to utilize AI-powered third-party applications while maintaining structured and clinically consistent documentation.
Coreline Soft’s AVIEW platform provides more than lung nodule detection from a single low-dose chest CT scan. It also delivers quantitative information related to COPD, emphysema and coronary artery calcification (CAC), among other findings available from thoracic CT imaging.
When integrated with mint Lesion, AI-generated lung nodule findings can become part of a structured reporting workflow. The combined platform can support standardized nodule classification, volume doubling time (VDT) calculations, follow-up planning and greater consistency across multiple screening sites.
“By integrating Coreline Soft’s AI solution into Mint Lesion, we can address lung cancer screening requirements more comprehensively while supporting scalable, quality-assured workflows, long-term follow-up and optimized interaction with AI-generated results,” said Onur Özek, Managing Director of Mint Medical.
“Coreline Soft already has a clinically validated AI solution that complements Mint Medical’s structured reporting workflow exceptionally well,” he added. “Through this partnership, we aim to deliver a fully integrated workflow solution to the market and make adoption easier for healthcare providers.”
Screening Infrastructure Becomes the Next Battleground
Across Europe, evaluation criteria for lung cancer screening AI are also evolving beyond pure detection performance. A recent study comparing CE-certified lung cancer screening AI products found that while many commercial solutions offer comparable capabilities for standard nodule detection and measurement, they differ substantially in areas such as nodule management, follow-up support, clinical evidence and post-market monitoring.
The findings suggest that competition is increasingly centered not only on diagnostic accuracy, but also on the ability to support the broader screening infrastructure.
This is where the Coreline Soft–Mint Medical partnership differentiates itself. Detecting lung nodules alone is no longer sufficient in a national screening environment. AI findings must enter the radiology workflow, be documented through standardized reports and connect seamlessly to follow-up and quality management systems.
By combining Coreline Soft’s growing hospital footprint in Germany with Mint Medical’s expertise in structured reporting, the two companies are positioning AI not merely as an assistive tool, but as an integral component of screening infrastructure.
“The German lung cancer screening market requires more than AI accuracy,” a Coreline Soft representative said. “Success depends on how effectively screening data can be standardized and integrated into clinical workflows. Through our collaboration with Mint Medical, we aim to strengthen AI-driven reporting and workflow models tailored to Germany’s screening environment and expand our presence in Europe’s emerging AI screening infrastructure market.”
The partnership is also notable as an example of Korean medical AI entering Europe’s national screening workflow. Germany is emerging as one of the continent’s leading markets where lung cancer screening AI is being deployed within an institutional framework.
As countries such as France and Italy prepare or expand structured lung cancer screening programs, the combination of AI analysis, structured reporting, follow-up management and multi-site quality control is likely to become increasingly important.
Coreline Soft’s expansion in Germany therefore represents more than an increase in overseas contracts. Germany’s lung cancer screening market is becoming an early proving ground for whether medical AI can evolve beyond lesion detection software and establish itself as infrastructure for large-scale, continuously managed screening programs.
