Celltrion has launched two oncology biosimilars in Vietnam, accelerating its expansion strategy in emerging pharmaceutical markets. The move reflects the company's broader effort to strengthen growth momentum by diversifying its product portfolio across Asia and Latin America.
Celltrion announced that it began supplying Truxima (rituximab), a treatment for blood cancers, and Vegzelma (bevacizumab), indicated for metastatic colorectal cancer and breast cancer, in Vietnam on June 9 local time.
The launch comes just three months after both products received regulatory approval in March, enabling Celltrion to secure an early foothold in the market.
With the addition of the two oncology products, Celltrion has expanded its product lineup in Vietnam to four products. The company previously introduced Remsima (infliximab) for autoimmune diseases and Herzuma (trastuzumab) for breast and gastric cancers in the country last year.
Leveraging its broader portfolio, Celltrion plans to create marketing synergies among its products and accelerate prescription growth. The company also intends to utilize the hospital network and tender experience established through Herzuma sales to strengthen supply channels for newly launched products.
Celltrion Vietnam has already demonstrated its direct sales capabilities. Since launching Herzuma, the local subsidiary has secured 25 out of 48 trastuzumab tenders held by major hospitals in Vietnam.
The company's performance has also been notable across other Asian markets. According to IQVIA, Remsima commands a 96% market share in Singapore and remains the market leader in Thailand (77%) and Malaysia (59%).
Remsima SC, the world's only subcutaneous formulation of infliximab, is also gaining traction. In Hong Kong, Remsima SC has achieved a 29% market share, while the combined market share of the Remsima franchise has reached 82% in the local infliximab market.
Celltrion's oncology portfolio has similarly expanded its presence in Asia. Herzuma leads the market in Thailand with an 82% share and maintains top positions in Hong Kong (64%) and Malaysia (53%). Truxima also ranks first in prescriptions in Singapore (81%) and Thailand (74%).
Strong sales performance is also evident in Latin America, another key emerging market. In Costa Rica, Remsima and Truxima each account for nearly 100% market share, while Truxima holds about 80% in Ecuador. Remsima has also secured approximately 80% market share in both the Dominican Republic and Paraguay.
Looking ahead, Celltrion plans to introduce additional products, including Remsima SC, in Vietnam and expand launches in Indonesia, where it established a local subsidiary last year. In Latin America, the company aims to strengthen its presence through new product launches, including Omlyclo, and broader participation in public tenders.
"With the launch of new oncology products, we are now able to execute a more aggressive sales strategy in Vietnam," a Celltrion official said. "We will continue expanding high-margin follow-up products in emerging markets where our product portfolio has already established a strong presence."
