Hanwha Aerospace signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Akkodis Nordics, a Norway-based digital engineering and solutions company, on October 21st at the Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2025. This collaboration aims to develop a cutting-edge simulator for the Chunmoo Multiple Rocket Launcher System.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Billy Boo-hwan Lee, Head of the PGM Business Group at Hanwha Aerospace, and Mr. Sebastian Eidem, Vice President of Operations at Akkodis Nordics.
This strategic partnership marks a significant step in Hanwha Aerospace’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the Norwegian market. The joint development of a high-fidelity simulator with Akkodis, a renowned Norwegian company, will ensure that the training solutions for the Chunmoo system are tailored to meet the operational requirements of the Norwegian Armed Forces.
The Chunmoo system is a next-generation, precision-guided missile launcher capable of accurately targeting key enemy positions from a safe distance. Equipped with GPS/INS-guided missiles, it offers pinpoint accuracy for precise strikes. Its unique capacity to carry two different types of rocket pods simultaneously more than doubles the firepower compared to competing systems in a single mission. The system has proven its effectiveness and reliability through successful exports to Poland and Middle Eastern nations, demonstrating its operational versatility.
Mr. Billy Boo-hwan Lee expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to collaborate with Akkodis to provide a more advanced and comprehensive Chunmoo solution tailored for Norway.” He added, “We are committed to enhancing Norway’s defense capabilities through active cooperation with local Norwegian companies.”
Sebastian Eidem also highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration, saying, “Partnering with Hanwha Aerospace allows us to integrate our digital engineering and edge technology expertise into a project of significant importance. Together, we aim to set a new standard in simulator development—combining realism, safety, and cutting-edge technology to support the Norwegian Armed Forces.”
With this MOU, Hanwha Aerospace and Akkodis Nordics are joining forces to foster innovation and deliver advanced technological solutions to strengthen Norway’s defense capabilities.
Additionally, on the same day, Hanwha Aerospace expanded its cooperation with Norway’s defense industry by signing further MOUs with EIDEL, a Norwegian technology company specializing in defense and space solutions, to explore potential collaboration in mobile test control systems, and with T&G Elektro, to discuss joint projects in electrical and electronic systems.
