The Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) has signed an agreement with global travel booking platform Klook to allow foreign travelers to purchase Korean train tickets more conveniently through the platform. The signing ceremony took place on October 23 at The Plaza Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Klook is an online travel agency (OTA) widely used in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, providing a broad range of travel services including tours, attraction tickets, transportation, and accommodation reservations.
Under the partnership, starting in March next year, international travelers will be able to search, book, and pay for tickets for Korail-operated trains, including the high-speed KTX and conventional lines such as Saemaul and Mugunghwa, directly through Klook’s website and mobile application.
The integrated system will support real-time seat availability and enable bookings without requiring separate Korail membership registration. Users will be able to complete transactions in their native language and using their preferred payment method. The service will accommodate 15 languages, 40 currencies, and more than 40 international payment options, reflecting Korail’s broader effort to make its rail network more accessible to foreign visitors.
Since 2018, Korail has been expanding its digital services for overseas customers through collaborations with platforms such as Trip.com, WeChat, and Alipay, and by incorporating multiple global payment systems. These initiatives aim to simplify the ticketing process and promote greater use of Korea’s rail services by international travelers.
Lee Min-sung, Head of Korail’s Customer Marketing Division, said the company is continuing to strengthen services designed for foreign visitors, citing initiatives such as a multilingual website and the “Korail Pass,” a rail pass tailored for independent travelers. “We expect this agreement with Klook to help more international tourists use Korean trains easily and conveniently,” Lee said.
