SK On announced that it successfully concluded its exhibition at InterBattery 2026, Korea’s largest battery industry event, held at COEX in Seoul from March 11 to 13.
During the exhibition period, the SK On booth attracted a wide range of visitors, including representatives from global battery and automotive companies, embassy officials, university students, and members of the public.
At the event, SK On presented its latest battery innovations under the theme “Unlock the Next Energy,” highlighting next-generation battery cell and pack technologies, safety solutions, and applications in energy storage systems (ESS) and robotics. The company emphasized its strategy to expand battery technologies beyond electric vehicles into broader industrial sectors.
The exhibition space was organized into three main zones: Leading Tech, Future Tech, and Core Tech. In addition to technology displays, SK On provided interactive content that allowed visitors to explore battery manufacturing and research processes, drawing positive responses from attendees.
The ESS display in the Core Tech zone attracted particularly strong interest. Industry visitors showed keen curiosity about the safety and operational efficiency of the showcased technologies.
SK On introduced a high-energy-density lithium iron phosphate (LFP) pouch battery designed for both EV and ESS applications. The company is currently conducting research to increase the energy density of the battery from the current 350–450Wh/L range to around 500Wh/L.
For ESS safety technologies, SK On presented a container-type ESS DC block equipped with a preventive diagnostic system based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The EIS technology measures the electrochemical state inside a battery to detect early signs of abnormalities.
Various real-world applications powered by SK On batteries also drew attention from visitors. Many attendees photographed a Genesis GV60 Magma equipped with SK On’s NCM battery and an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) developed by Hyundai WIA.
The company also highlighted its integrated pack solutions based on Cell-to-Pack (CTP) technology. CTP integrates battery cells directly into the pack without a module stage, reducing component counts and manufacturing processes while improving energy density and cost competitiveness.
SK On displayed four pack solutions together for the first time, including pouch cell-to-pack, Large Surface Cooling (LSC) cell-to-pack, pouch integrated prismatic pack, and immersion cooling technologies.
The LSC technology places cooling plates between battery cells, enabling up to three times greater cooling performance compared with conventional indirect cooling methods.
Another highlight was the prismatic On-vent Cell, which won an award at the InterBattery 2026 Awards. The technology improves both safety and design flexibility in prismatic battery structures.
An SK On official said the exhibition provided an opportunity to showcase the company’s expanding battery portfolio across multiple industries beyond electric vehicles.
“Given the strong interest from visitors and industry partners, we will continue expanding customer engagement with products that combine competitive pricing and advanced safety technologies,” the official said.
