As European nations ramp up investments in power infrastructure to achieve carbon neutrality and strengthen energy security, LS Electric is accelerating its push into the region with ultra-high-voltage transformers and direct current (DC)-based power solutions.
LS Electric announced that it will participate in EM-Power 2026, a leading power infrastructure exhibition to be held in Munich, Germany, from June 23 to 25. The company plans to showcase integrated power solutions covering electricity generation, transmission and distribution, as well as energy efficiency management.
At the exhibition, LS Electric will present a range of technologies targeting the European market, including ultra-high-voltage transformers, mold transformers, high-voltage switchgear, and DC distribution systems designed for high efficiency and sustainability.
A centerpiece of the exhibition will be the company’s 132-kilovolt (kV), 90-megavolt-ampere (MVA) ultra-high-voltage transformer, reflecting growing demand driven by Europe’s ongoing power grid modernization efforts.
The move comes as Europe accelerates upgrades to aging electricity networks while expanding renewable energy capacity. Earlier this year, LS Electric signed a large-scale supply agreement for ultra-high-voltage transformers with a German energy company, further strengthening its presence in the region.
Industry observers view the company’s participation in EM-Power 2026 as more than a product showcase, seeing it as a strategic move to secure large-scale orders and expand its footprint in the European power infrastructure market.
Demand for transformers, distribution equipment, and energy optimization solutions has been rising rapidly as the European Union pushes forward both grid replacement projects and renewable energy expansion initiatives.
Interest in DC-based power systems is also increasing. As AI data centers, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and renewable energy facilities continue to expand, DC distribution technologies are gaining attention as a key component of next-generation power grids due to their ability to reduce energy losses and improve operational efficiency.
Through the exhibition, LS Electric aims to highlight the competitiveness of its DC package solutions and position itself at the forefront of future power markets.
The company is also strengthening its environmental credentials to meet European regulatory requirements. LS Electric has expanded the use of eco-friendly insulating materials in power equipment and completed environmental verification for its mold transformers, reinforcing its sustainability-focused product portfolio.
Experts expect Europe’s growing investments in power grids to create new growth opportunities for Korean power equipment manufacturers. With electrification policies driving long-term demand for transmission and distribution upgrades, companies with strong technological capabilities and manufacturing capacity are expected to benefit.
“Europe is a market where aging grid replacement and renewable energy expansion are progressing simultaneously, leading to sustained demand for ultra-high-voltage transformers and eco-friendly distribution equipment,” an industry official said. “Companies with proven technological reliability and environmental competitiveness are likely to gain an advantage in securing large-scale projects in the future.”
