London, Jan. 14, 2026 — lomarlabs, a maritime venture and innovation hub, and Signal Fusion, a human-performance analytics company, said they have entered a strategic collaboration to test predictive behavioural intelligence in commercial shipping operations.
Under the agreement, a pilot program scheduled for 2026 will deploy Signal Fusion’s AI-based voice and behavioural analytics platform across vessels operated by Lomar Shipping. The system is designed to analyse how crews communicate and make decisions during operations, with the goal of identifying early indicators of fatigue, stress and operational risk before incidents occur.
Signal Fusion’s platform converts short narrative and voice-based assessments into data that can be used for staffing, training priorities and safety actions. The companies said the system is designed to provide traceable, auditable outputs and to include human review, addressing regulatory and accountability requirements in safety-critical environments.
Behaviour-based safety analytics are already used in sectors such as aviation, rail and trucking, where they are applied to reduce communication failures and improve performance. The partners said the maritime pilot aims to adapt similar principles to shipping, where crews face tight schedules, regulatory pressure and high operational risk.
lomarlabs said the project reflects growing industry interest in using data-driven tools to strengthen safety management systems and workforce support, while Signal Fusion said it will use the pilot to validate its technology in live maritime operations.
Executives from Signal Fusion, lomarlabs and Lomar Shipping said the collaboration is intended to improve crew support and reduce the likelihood of incidents and near-misses by providing earlier, more actionable insight into human performance during real-world operations.
