Simmons has strengthened its position in the premium mattress market after securing a top-tier global dermatological certification for its flagship product line.
The company announced on April 13 that its high-end “Beautyrest Black” lineup received the highest “Excellent” rating from Dermatest, a German dermatological research institute. Dermatest conducts rigorous testing on skin irritation and product safety through a panel of dermatologists, biologists, and food chemists, granting certification only to products that meet strict standards.
The certification was awarded following patch testing on individuals with sensitive and atopic skin, one of the most demanding testing categories. The results confirmed that all Beautyrest Black models meet low-irritation safety standards. Because the evaluation involves direct skin contact testing, it is considered more reliable than general certification methods.
The certified lineup includes models such as Kelly, Deborah, Marion, Lucille, Brigitte, Lauren, and Eger.
Beautyrest Black represents Simmons’ premium mattress segment, incorporating its proprietary “Advanced Pocket Spring” system with a triple-coil structure designed to provide responsive support even to subtle movements. Since its launch in 2016, the product line has recorded consistent double-digit annual growth, reaching 30 billion won in sales within two years. Monthly sales have continued to rise, surpassing 500 units in March this year for the first time, up from around 300 units in 2023.
Simmons is also reinforcing its brand credibility by expanding safety certifications. The company highlights that it has met four major safety standards in the domestic bedding industry, including radon and thoron safety certification, flame-retardant mattress standards, eco-friendly certification, and UL GREENGUARD Gold certification.
A Simmons official said the Dermatest certification reaffirms the safety and quality of its ultra-premium mattresses, adding that the company will continue to enhance sleep environments that consumers can trust while raising standards in the premium bedding market.
Meanwhile, Simmons plans to expand investment in its large-scale domestic production facility, “Simmons Factoreum,” to improve manufacturing efficiency and working conditions while strengthening overall production competitiveness.
