Com2uS announced that it is developing a new game tentatively titled Gachiakuta: The Game, based on the globally popular animated series Gachiakuta.
Gachiakuta is a battle-action TV anime that follows Rudo, a boy born in the slums, as he fights against discrimination and oppression. The series has drawn attention for its strong social themes, graffiti-inspired visual style, and dynamic action sequences.
The anime has recently topped viewership rankings on the global animation streaming platform Crunchyroll in major markets including the United States, Germany, and France. It has also ranked highly across other major OTT platforms in Japan, Southeast Asia, and Europe, underscoring its worldwide popularity.
Drawing from the original universe and tone of the anime, Com2uS is reimagining the title as a survival action RPG. The game is structured around missions in dangerous zones inhabited by monstrous creatures, where players must complete objectives and return safely to secure areas. The development team is focusing on delivering visually striking, character-driven action optimized for both console and PC environments.
The game is planned for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox platforms, and Steam. With its cartoon-style graphics, stylish artwork, and original storytelling, Com2uS aims to faithfully translate the distinctive atmosphere and emotional impact of the anime into an interactive experience.
On December 21, shortly after the final episode of the anime’s second cour aired, Com2uS revealed the first official video of Gachiakuta: The Game through Japanese television channels and the game’s official YouTube channel. The footage showcased the personalities of key characters, the series’ unique world, fast-paced combat, and visually stylized presentation, heightening anticipation among fans.
“Gachiakuta is a compelling IP that combines flashy action with meaningful themes,” Com2uS said in a statement. “By expanding it into a game that players can experience firsthand, we hope to deliver a new form of enjoyment to fans around the world.”
Meanwhile, Com2uS has been strengthening its collaboration with Kodansha by participating in the animation production committee for Kodansha-owned IPs, including Gachiakuta. Through the development of this new title, the two companies plan to further expand the scope of IP utilization and reinforce Gachiakuta’s presence in the global market.
