Partnership combines qualified custody with validator operations as institutional blockchain infrastructure evolves

Institutional blockchain infrastructure is entering a new phase as custody services increasingly evolve into revenue-generating digital infrastructure.

Solmate Infrastructure, a Nasdaq-listed company specializing in blockchain, staking, AI infrastructure, and high-performance computing, announced on July 30 that it has formed a strategic partnership with Kraken Institutional to strengthen its Solana validator operations.

The agreement combines Kraken Institutional's qualified custody solution with validator infrastructure, allowing Solmate to generate staking rewards from its SOL holdings without moving assets outside regulated custody. The model is designed to improve capital efficiency while maintaining institutional-grade asset protection.

"Our partnership with Kraken Institutional represents another major milestone in executing Solmate's long-term digital infrastructure strategy," said Ron Sade, CEO of Solmate Infrastructure. He said the collaboration strengthens the company's validator business while positioning it to benefit from the continued expansion of the Solana ecosystem.

Lincoln Bartlett, Head of OTC Sales at Kraken Institutional, said the partnership enables institutional clients to earn staking rewards while maintaining qualified custody, eliminating the traditional trade-off between security and yield.

Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-operating digital asset platforms. Its institutional division provides custody, staking, prime brokerage, over-the-counter trading, financing, and derivatives services for asset managers, hedge funds, corporations, family offices, and professional trading firms. The company also holds regulatory authorizations across the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom, including MiCA authorization for crypto-asset services across the European Economic Area.

For Solmate, the partnership supports its broader strategy of building recurring infrastructure revenue across blockchain, staking, AI infrastructure, and next-generation computing through strategic investments and institutional partnerships.

The partnership also reflects a broader transformation in institutional blockchain infrastructure. As digital assets become a growing component of institutional portfolios, investors are increasingly seeking infrastructure that can generate sustainable returns without compromising regulatory compliance or asset security. Qualified custody, validator operations, staking, and digital asset financing are gradually converging into a more integrated institutional service model.

As blockchain markets mature, competitive advantage is likely to depend not only on safeguarding digital assets but also on enabling those assets to generate recurring value within a compliant institutional framework. Revenue-generating blockchain infrastructure is emerging as a new benchmark for institutional adoption, signaling a shift from asset protection alone toward long-term capital productivity.
