DB Securities’ ESG management strategy and sustainable finance initiatives have been highlighted in an official submission related to the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2026.
According to DB Securities on Aug. 18, the company’s key sustainability initiatives were featured in a statement submitted by the UN SDGs Association, a non-governmental organization (NGO) holding special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The statement was published on the UN website as an official ECOSOC conference document.
The HLPF is the UN’s leading annual policy forum for reviewing progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s forum was held at the UN Headquarters in New York from July 7 to 15. SDG 9, which focuses on industry, innovation and infrastructure, was among the goals selected for in-depth review, putting a spotlight on the role of financial institutions in supporting sustainable industrial transformation.
The submission highlighted DB Securities’ ESG-focused management strategy since CEO Kwak Bong-seok took office in 2023, including the operation of an ESG committee under the board of directors and an expansion of outside directors.
It also introduced the company’s initiatives in areas including employee carbon neutrality, family-friendly management, job creation for people with developmental disabilities, green financial products and climate action strategies.
In particular, the inclusion of green financial products and climate-related initiatives underscores the company’s efforts to integrate ESG principles into its core financial business. The case demonstrates how securities firms are expanding their role beyond internal management and social contribution activities to supporting sustainable industrial transformation through investment, financial products and capital allocation.
The recognition also reflects the growing role of financial institutions as active drivers of sustainable economic transition, rather than simply providers of capital.
A DB Securities official said, “We are honored that our sustainability management efforts have been introduced to the international community through an official UN document. We will continue to contribute to creating social value through ESG management and sustainable finance.”
