Xapo Bank said on August 5 that 79% of its members ended the second quarter of 2026 with more Bitcoin in their accounts than at the beginning of the period. Of those members, 28% increased their holdings by more than 5%.
The increase came as trading activity slowed. The number of Bitcoin trades declined 2.7% from the previous quarter, while average purchase and sale sizes fell 12.9% and 20.2%, respectively. Total buying volume decreased 28.7%, compared with a 17.2% decline in selling volume.
The figures suggest that some Xapo members continued to accumulate Bitcoin selectively despite lower transaction activity. However, the company did not disclose the number of members included in the data or distinguish between Bitcoin purchases and transfers from external wallets.
Assets under management in Xapo’s BTC Fund increased 15.1% quarter-on-quarter. Xapo did not provide the fund’s absolute asset value or separate new inflows from changes caused by Bitcoin’s market price.
Active Bitcoin-backed loans remained stable, while the combined value of outstanding loans and increases to existing loans rose 3.4%. New loan openings declined 29.2%, indicating that the increase primarily came from existing borrowers rather than broader adoption among members.
Xapo said the activity shows that some members are using Bitcoin as part of a wider wealth-management strategy, including seeking yield and obtaining liquidity without selling their underlying holdings.
The data is limited to Xapo Bank’s member base and should not be interpreted as representing the broader Bitcoin market. Still, the combination of lower trading volumes, increased holdings and continued borrowing activity provides a company-level indication that some long-term holders are moving beyond simple buying and selling toward more structured management of their Bitcoin assets.
