Daewoong Pharmaceutical is accelerating its expansion strategy in Southeast Asia through a new partnership with Indonesia's largest pharmacists' organization, broadening its focus beyond product sales to include professional education and public health initiatives.
According to industry sources on June 9, Daewoong Pharmaceutical signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI). The agreement is aimed at enhancing the professional capabilities of local pharmacists and contributing to public health improvement, with both sides planning to collaborate on a range of educational, academic, and healthcare initiatives.
Under the partnership, the two organizations will develop and operate training programs for pharmacists across Indonesia. The programs will focus on the latest pharmaceutical information and disease management practices, helping pharmacists provide more effective patient counseling and medication guidance. Regular online webinars and regional symposiums are also planned to facilitate the sharing of up-to-date medical and pharmaceutical knowledge.
Daewoong Pharmaceutical said it will also establish an expert advisory group composed of Indonesian pharmacists to better understand local market trends and consumer needs. Insights gathered from the group will be incorporated into product development and brand strategies, allowing the company to strengthen its competitiveness while building stronger connections with local consumers.
As part of the initiative, Daewoong plans to further localize several of its flagship over-the-counter (OTC) brands, including EasyDerm, Impactamin, and EZN6. The company intends to tailor its products and marketing strategies to Indonesia's climate, culture, and consumer preferences.
The agreement aligns with Daewoong Pharmaceutical's broader strategy to expand its presence in Indonesia, one of its key overseas markets. Through educational programs and public health activities, the company aims to enhance brand credibility and reinforce its position in the country's growing OTC market.
Industry observers noted that the partnership represents a shift from a traditional export-focused approach toward a more integrated business model built around collaboration with local healthcare professionals. By combining pharmaceutical products with pharmacist education, health information services, and public health initiatives, Daewoong is seeking to deepen its engagement within Indonesia's healthcare ecosystem.
The company expects the collaboration to serve as a foundation for long-term growth while strengthening its reputation among healthcare professionals and consumers in the Indonesian market.
