LG Energy Solution is accelerating its push into the software-defined vehicle (SDV) market by expanding its battery technology capabilities into the software domain and joining SDVerse, a global open marketplace for automotive software.
According to the company on April 3, SDVerse is a B2B software trading platform led by global companies including General Motors, Magna International, and Wipro. Within this open ecosystem—bringing together automakers, parts suppliers, and software developers—LG Energy Solution has introduced five key battery software solutions.
The newly unveiled solutions include a “battery platform software” that adapts battery management system (BMS) technologies to SDV environments, a “safety diagnostic calibration tool” designed to enhance security, and three advanced analytics tools: “Onboard FRISM,” a machine learning-based battery degradation prediction model; “Onboard BLiS,” a physics-based battery life simulator; and “Onboard DASH,” which analyzes driving patterns to help reduce battery wear.
These solutions incorporate advanced algorithms covering the entire battery lifecycle, including real-time condition monitoring, safety diagnostics, lifespan prediction, and management guidance.
Through its participation in SDVerse, LG Energy Solution aims to strengthen its position beyond a battery supplier and evolve into a total solutions provider. The company brings over 20 years of research and development experience and holds more than 10,000 patents related to battery management systems.
Currently, LG Energy Solution offers a comprehensive battery management total solution (BMTS) under its “B.around” brand, providing cloud- and AI-based diagnostic services. Its portfolio includes continuous monitoring services such as “B-lifecare” and one-time evaluation services like “B.once.”
In October last year, the company demonstrated its technological leadership by winning a CES Innovation Award in the software category—the first in the battery industry—for its battery lifespan enhancement software solution “Better.Re.”
Prashant Gulati, CEO of SDVerse, said he is pleased to showcase LG Energy Solution’s advanced battery management software and SDV-optimized battery design on the platform, noting that the company is accelerating next-generation electric vehicle development by combining battery expertise with software-driven intelligent systems.
Kim Je-young, Chief Technology Officer of LG Energy Solution, said joining SDVerse will allow the company to introduce its advanced battery software capabilities to a broader customer base. He added that LG Energy Solution will continue to strengthen its technological leadership in preparation for the SDV era and drive growth in both the electric vehicle and battery markets.
