Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. has introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, its most advanced Snapdragon mobile processor to date, designed to power Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 series.
The new platform will be featured in the Galaxy S26 Ultra worldwide and in select Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 models in certain regions outside South Korea. Built on the third-generation custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU, next-generation Qualcomm Adreno GPU and enhanced Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, the chipset delivers improved AI acceleration, advanced graphics performance and enhanced camera capabilities.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 supports Advanced Professional Video (APV) capture, enabling next-generation video recording experiences. It also enhances personalized on-device AI features such as “Now Nudge,” designed to provide contextual suggestions and automate background tasks efficiently.
Qualcomm and Samsung worked closely to optimize the platform for the latest Galaxy AI experiences. The system is engineered to deliver stable and efficient performance across a wide range of AI-driven user interactions.
Connectivity features have also been upgraded. Qualcomm Smart Transmit technology optimizes transmission power across 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and satellite links, offering faster upload speeds, broader coverage and seamless connectivity. The Galaxy S26 Ultra and S26+ equipped with Qualcomm FastConnect 7900 also support ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for precise and secure device interactions.
Oh-Hyung Kwon, Senior Vice President and President of Qualcomm APAC, said the collaboration reflects the companies’ strong strategic partnership and shared goal of delivering AI-driven, high-performance mobile experiences.
Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets at Qualcomm Technologies, noted that the new platform sets a new benchmark for intelligent mobile performance, redefining how users create and stay productive.
In-Gang Song, Vice President and Head of Technology Strategy Team at Samsung’s MX Division, said the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will enable the Galaxy S26 series to deliver the most powerful and personalized Galaxy experience yet.
