Hyosung Chemical is expanding the potential applications of its high-performance plastic, POKETONE, into humanoid robot components as it seeks new business opportunities in Europe.
The company is participating in FAKUMA 2026, an international plastics processing trade fair held in Friedrichshafen, Germany, from October 12 to 16.
Under the theme of automotive, robotics and medical applications, Hyosung Chemical is showcasing POKETONE-based automotive connectors, gears, drive components and medical parts.
POKETONE offers impact and wear resistance, chemical resistance and low moisture absorption, helping components maintain dimensional stability. Its properties, including strength, wear resistance and flame retardancy, can also be tailored to specific applications.
Hyosung Chemical is exploring the material’s use in humanoid robot joint gears and shaft-support components, which must withstand repeated movement and friction. The company aims to build on existing applications in service robots and identify additional demand in Europe’s automotive and industrial manufacturing sectors.
On October 14, Hyosung Chemical will hold a technical seminar titled “Proven Worldwide, Engineered Forward” to discuss the material’s capabilities and potential applications.
CEO Lee Cheon-seok said the company would expand POKETONE’s applications across electric vehicles, robotics and medical industries through customer collaboration and tailored technical support, responding to growing demand for high-performance and sustainable materials.
