Mirae Asset Global Investments has surpassed 600 trillion won ($450 billion) in assets under management (AUM), driven by rapid growth in its global ETF business, pension fund operations, and institutional asset management services. The company is also accelerating its transition from a traditional asset manager into a global investment platform focused on AI-driven investment solutions and digital assets.
According to the company on Sunday, Mirae Asset’s total AUM reached 624 trillion won as of the end of April. The figure has more than doubled in just over two years from around 250 trillion won at the end of 2022. After surpassing 300 trillion won last year, the company quickly crossed both the 500 trillion won and 600 trillion won milestones this year.
At the center of Mirae Asset’s expansion is its global ETF business. Through its U.S.-based ETF subsidiary Global X, the company has strengthened its lineup of thematic and income-focused ETFs while broadening its international investor base. Mirae Asset currently manages more than 700 ETFs across 13 markets including South Korea, the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, Hong Kong, and Japan, positioning itself among the world’s leading ETF managers.
The company has also been actively exploring tokenized ETF products that integrate blockchain technology. Tokenized ETFs convert traditional ETF assets into digital formats designed to improve accessibility and liquidity in financial markets. Mirae Asset is reportedly expanding its tokenized ETF business in Hong Kong while preparing digital investment products linked to covered-call ETF strategies.
In South Korea, the company’s TIGER ETF lineup continues to attract strong investor demand, particularly from long-term retail investors and retirement pension accounts. ETFs linked to major U.S. indexes and South Korean semiconductor stocks have seen especially strong inflows.
Semiconductor-themed products have emerged as one of the company’s fastest-growing segments. Mirae Asset’s TIGER Semiconductor TOP10 ETF, which heavily weights major chipmakers such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, has experienced rapid asset growth amid rising expectations for the global AI semiconductor market.
The company is also preparing to launch single-stock leveraged ETFs tied to Samsung Electronics and SK hynix in an effort to strengthen its competitiveness in the increasingly crowded ETF market. Mirae Asset has simultaneously adopted a low-fee strategy aimed at reducing investor costs.
Its pension business has become another major growth engine. Mirae Asset was the first company in South Korea to introduce target date funds (TDFs), and it continues to maintain a leading market share in the segment. More recently, the firm launched AI-powered robo-advisor services dedicated to retirement pension management, further expanding its digital wealth management capabilities.
Mirae Asset has also strengthened its competitiveness in the outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO) business, managing major public funds including South Korea’s pension investment pools and housing and urban development funds. Industry analysts say the company’s experience managing long-term institutional capital has become a stable foundation for continued growth.
In alternative investments, Mirae Asset has continued expanding overseas real estate investments while attracting global hotel brands to key assets, reinforcing its global property investment portfolio.
The company plans to accelerate AI-centered digital investment innovation going forward. By leveraging its global network, including its U.S.-based AI asset management operations and Australian robo-advisor affiliates, Mirae Asset aims to further enhance data-driven investment solutions.
“Mirae Asset is rapidly evolving beyond a conventional fund manager into a global ETF and AI-based investment platform company,” an industry official said. “The simultaneous growth of pensions, ETFs, and digital assets is significantly accelerating the company’s expansion.”
