Doosan Robotics has signed a strategic partnership with global automotive parts manufacturer Kwangjin Group to supply more than 100 manufacturing robot solutions as part of a broader effort to expand automation in automotive component production.

The company announced on March 9 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kwangjin Group to collaborate on innovation in automotive parts manufacturing processes and the deployment of robotic automation solutions.

Kwangjin Group is a global automotive door system components supplier that operates production facilities across major manufacturing hubs including the United States, Mexico, India, and Vietnam. The company supplies components to major global automakers and has already deployed Doosan Robotics’ robotic systems in several processes.

Currently, Doosan Robotics’ robots are used in Kwangjin Group’s window regulator production line for assembly and inspection, as well as in door module manufacturing processes including riveting, assembly, and inspection.

Under the agreement, Doosan Robotics will complete the delivery of eight additional robots by May this year, bringing the total number of deployed units to 19. The two companies also agreed that more than 100 manufacturing robot solutions will be gradually introduced at Kwangjin Group’s domestic and overseas plants by 2027.

The large-scale supply plan reflects growing recognition of Doosan Robotics’ technology and reliability within the global automotive supply chain. A key factor behind the expanded partnership was the fact that product defect rates dropped to zero after the introduction of Doosan Robotics’ manufacturing robot solutions.

Doosan Robotics said its manufacturing robots can be installed without major changes to existing factory layouts, while offering high safety and precision that allow them to collaborate efficiently with human workers. The robots also help reduce quality variation caused by differences in worker skill levels, improving overall product quality and lowering defect rates.

In addition, the solutions contribute to shorter manufacturing cycle times, improved productivity, and more stable factory operations.

Beyond the large-scale supply agreement, the two companies plan to expand cooperation by jointly developing customized robotic solutions that can be applied to a wider range of Kwangjin Group’s component manufacturing processes.

They will also establish a joint working group to develop phased robot deployment plans and create the necessary operating environment for expanding automation across production sites.

Park In-won, CEO of Doosan Robotics, said the agreement reflects strong trust in the company’s manufacturing robot solutions, noting that the achievement of a zero defect rate played a decisive role in securing the partnership.

He added that Doosan Robotics will continue supporting the successful implementation of its robotic systems at Kwangjin Group’s production facilities while strengthening its position in the global manufacturing automation market.

Doosan Robotics also plans to increase the share of robot solutions that can be immediately applied to real industrial sites while expanding research and development investment to create safer and more productive intelligent robotic systems.
