Kolmar Korea announced that its AI-powered Scar Beauty Device won the Best of Innovation Award in the Beauty Tech category at CES 2026. The company also received an Innovation Award in the Digital Health category, achieving a double win at the global exhibition.
The Best of Innovation Award is granted only to technologies that receive the highest scores across all evaluation criteria, including innovation, design, and technical excellence. Among this year’s Beauty Tech Innovation Award recipients, Kolmar Korea’s technology was selected as the most outstanding. The award was newly established last year, with Samsung Electronics named the inaugural winner. Kolmar Korea is the second company to receive the honor and the first from the beauty industry.
The Scar Beauty Device is the world’s first one-stop integrated solution that combines wound treatment and cosmetic coverage in a single device. While traditional wound care requires separate treatment and makeup steps, the new device enables both processes to be completed simultaneously in approximately 10 minutes.
At the core of the device are AI-driven big data analysis and piezo-electric micro-spray technology. When a user captures an image of a wound using a smartphone app, an AI algorithm classifies the wound into one of 12 types and conducts a detailed condition analysis. Based on the results, a suitable treatment solution is precisely applied using piezo-electric micro-spray technology. At the same time, the device dispenses a customized cover makeup powder by blending more than 180 color variations to match the user’s skin tone. The piezo-electric spraying method allows precise application without heat generation, ensuring accuracy and stability.
The device also features an intuitive user interface that allows users to monitor and control the amount of treatment solution in real time via a smartphone screen. This ease of use was cited as a key factor in its positive evaluation, as the device can be easily operated by general consumers.
Kolmar Korea plans to complete the technology launch in the first half of the year and begin full-scale customer acquisition in the second half. The company also intends to further enhance the software behind its piezo-electric micro-spray technology for application in customized cosmetics manufacturing and to advance smart factory design in connection with government-led AI Transformation research projects.
A Kolmar Korea official said the Best of Innovation Award reflects a research focus on human-centered user experience and practical problem-solving rather than technology alone. The official added that the company will continue to expand AI-, IoT-, and big data-based technologies across cosmetics development and beauty services, positioning itself as a leader in the global beauty tech industry.
During CES 2026, Kolmar Korea is also operating a booth at the Venetian Expo Hall A-D 55050 in the Lifestyle section, where it is demonstrating its AI-based microbiome scalp diagnosis solution, CAIOME, through January 9.
