Doosan Enerbility is strengthening its presence in the fast-growing North American power market for AI data centers, securing consecutive orders for gas turbines and now steam turbines.
On March 18, the company announced it had signed a contract with a U.S. firm to supply two 370MW-class steam turbines and generators for data center power generation. This marks Doosan Enerbility’s first steam turbine supply project in North America.
The latest deal demonstrates the company’s capability to deliver combined cycle power solutions integrating both gas and steam turbines. Steam turbines play a critical role in combined cycle systems by utilizing waste heat from gas turbines to generate additional electricity, significantly improving overall energy efficiency.
As AI data centers operate around the clock and require massive amounts of electricity, highly efficient and reliable power generation systems are essential. Combined cycle power plants are increasingly being recognized as a key solution to meet these demands.
Building on this order, Doosan Enerbility plans to expand exports of its combined cycle solutions to utilities and independent power producers (IPPs) across North America. With a proven track record in both gas and steam turbine supply, the company is expected to gain a competitive edge in large-scale power projects in the region.
Son Seung-woo, Head of Power Services BG at Doosan Enerbility, said the order reflects strong confidence in the company’s technology in the North American market. He added that Doosan will continue to strengthen partnerships with local clients and establish itself as a comprehensive power solutions provider.
