LS ELECTRIC has accelerated its penetration of the North American data center power infrastructure market by winning the largest ultra-high-voltage transformer project in its history.
On November 26, the company announced that it signed a contract worth KRW 459.8 billion (approximately USD 312 million) with a major U.S. investor-owned utility (IOU) to supply ultra-high-voltage transformers.
Under the agreement, LS ELECTRIC will provide transformers rated up to 525 kV for renewable energy power plants that supply electricity to large-scale data centers in the southeastern United States. Delivery is scheduled from 2027 to 2029.
This project marks a significant milestone, as the company expands its product capability from the previous 115 kV and 354 kV classes to the 525 kV class—signaling entry into larger-scale transmission infrastructure, not just distribution. The achievement is expected to further boost LS ELECTRIC’s growth in power systems dedicated to high-demand data center infrastructure.
Notably, the deal demonstrates strong customer confidence, with an existing client choosing to increase order volume and transition to higher-voltage products based on LS ELECTRIC’s proven technology and reliability.
With this contract, the company’s high-voltage transformer backlog now exceeds KRW 2 trillion, while its total order backlog stands at approximately KRW 4.1 trillion as of Q3. Additional growth is anticipated in Q4 and throughout next year.
A company official stated, “This contract reflects global recognition of LS ELECTRIC’s technical excellence and trustworthiness. We will continue to expand our presence in the North American ultra-high-voltage market, focusing on hyperscale data centers, renewable energy, and power utilities.”
