Doosan Logistics Solutions (DLS) said it has secured a logistics automation project worth approximately KRW 162 billion for the Yangju Hub Center of Asung Daiso, marking the largest order in the company’s history.
The contract follows previous projects at Daiso’s Sejong Hub Center and Sejong Online Center, representing DLS’s third consecutive award from the retailer. The company said the deal demonstrates its design capabilities and large-scale project execution expertise.
The Yangju Hub Center will be built in the Eunam Industrial Complex in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, with completion targeted for the second half of 2028. The facility will span 205,943 square meters across four floors with a height of 45 meters. By 2030, it is expected to handle approximately 37% of Daiso’s combined online and offline order volume.
Unlike existing systems that separate online and offline inventories, the new hub will adopt an integrated omni-channel model that manages inventory collectively. The approach is designed to reduce duplicate stock storage and maximize shared use of space, equipment and IT infrastructure.
DLS will oversee the entire process, from design and engineering consulting to the supply of advanced automation equipment, AI-based software implementation and maintenance services. Equipment from global logistics automation company KNAPP will be installed at the facility.
The center will deploy 478 OSR (Order Storage and Retrieval) shuttles capable of operating at speeds of up to five meters per second and handling goods weighing up to 30 kilograms. The shuttle rack system will manage both online and offline inventory within a single framework to enhance omni-channel efficiency.
Additional systems include GTP (Goods to Person) stations that automatically deliver items to workers to improve picking efficiency, and an ODS (Order Distribution System) that optimizes order processing sequences to boost productivity.
DLS will also integrate its proprietary WMS (Warehouse Management System), WCS (Warehouse Control System) and OMS (Order Management System). The WMS will optimize integrated inventory management and storage strategies, while the WCS will coordinate real-time control of 15 types of automated equipment. The OMS will support efficient order allocation across multiple centers, enabling flexible responses to order fluctuations.
A DLS official said the project highlights the company’s technical capabilities and execution strength, adding that the Yangju Hub Center will be developed into a leading omni-channel logistics hub in Korea based on experience gained from large-scale retail and manufacturing projects.
